Temptation - Chapter 6

Jason and Taylor had pulled me upstairs out of the way while the two girls ushered everyone out of the house. I was shaking head to toe and barely able to fight my control. 

“I’m going to rip him to pieces!” I snarled, thinking about him licking her neck. She was mine! I had to protect her. 

“Luke, baby?” Amber’s voice came from behind the door. “Let me in.”

“No!” I snapped. “Go home, Amber. I’ll call you.”

“Baby,” Amber began but I cut her off by saying, “Amber, just go!”

“Why is that whenever that bitch is upset, you’re so concerned? You’re never like that with me!”

“Amber,” I warned.

“Well, I’m not putting up with it any longer! We’re over!” She cried, slapping the door.

“Okay.”

“What!” She stormed. 

“Oi, piss off, Barbie!” Char’s voice came. “You’re over. Piss off.”

“I’ll show you out.” I felt the smile in Winter’s voice.

I needed to go to Lacey. I needed to make sure she was okay. I couldn’t put up with it any longer. I tried for three weeks straight to try and get her to talk to me. She ignored me if I sat next to her in class. 

“Why the hell didn’t you tell me Karn was a vampire!” Char snarled, walking in.

“Not now, Char.”

“Yes, now!” Char cried. “Winter and I would never have let him anywhere near Lacey!”

“Char, you would have known he was a vampire by his scent! Or his pale complexion! But you were too busy ogling him to catch the smell of vampirism in him!”

“So this is our fault?” Winter laughed, “No, Luke. I felt something in him. But whenever I tried to put my finger on it, my mind went cloudy. He’s doing something to stop us from thinking about it!”

“Can he do that?” Taylor asked. 

“How did you think he’s luring Lacey in?” Luke bit back a snarl. “He saw me that day with her. He saw how protective I got of her and now he wants her. He wants to make her his so that I can never be with her.”

“You like Lacey?” Jason’s shocked voice asked. “I thought you guys were just friends.”

“That’s all I can be to her, Jason. You saw what she did when I told her what we were. She laughed.”

“I thought you and Lacey would have got together, eventually.” Taylor commented. 

“She’s your mate!” Char and Winter chorused, gob smacked. 

“Yeah, she is.” I looked at them in the eye. “I love her.”

“Wow,” Jason and Taylor whistled. 

“We have to convince her, than we’ll put in a really good word for you.” Char said automatically. 

“It’s not that simple. She’s not exactly going to fall into a werewolf’s arms when she’s terrified of me.”
