Simon was watching a scary movie when the phone rang. He sighed and went to answer it. Pasliee wiped her last tear and pushed some hair out of her face.
“Hello?” Simon asked.
“Simon!” Pasliee whispered and felt the tears dripping down her cheeks.
“Pasliee?” Simon had no doubt Pasliee was on the other line. After a minute, Pasliee slowly hang up.
“Don’t you want to talk to your father?” the nurse asked, confused.
“My dad wasn’t home” Pasliee informed them.
“But Simon was?” Dr. Hulu guessed and Pasliee nodded.
“Who’s Simon?” the nurse asked.
“Pasliee’s older brother” Dr. Hulu answered.
“Do you want to try and call your dad at work?” the nurse asked.
“No, he probably wouldn’t pick up anyway” Pasliee sourly answered. Sr. Hulu and the nurse share a look.
“I’m good to bed” Pasliee decided. It took her a few seconds to actually start walking. After an hour and a half of silently weeping, she went to sleep. The next morning, Victoria woke Pasliee up at six. Pasliee yawned and sat up.
“What?” Pasliee asked.
“Evaluation time” Victoria informed her and Pasliee groaned.
“No, it’s not that bad. You just have to answer a few questions and then you can go back to bed” Victoria explained. Pasliee got up and followed Victoria to the front desk. A few of the other girls were just finishing. After they left, Pasliee and Victoria filled out their evaluation paper. They, they went back to their room and Pasliee went back to bed. After ten a.m., a nurse came in and handed her a plate of scrambled eggs, apple wood bacon and waffles with syrup.
“Here you go” she said with a smile. She walked out and Pasliee turned to Victoria.
“Does this always happen?” Pasliee asked.
“Nope, just the first day” Victoria answered.
“Oh” Pasliee said.
“Better just eat it here, I’ll be in the Reck Room” Victoria said and walked out. After eating her breakfast, the nurse taking the plate and Pasliee taking a nap, she went into the Reck Room. Victoria and five other girls were watching TV.
“Hey Pasliee” Victoria said. Pasliee sat down next to Victoria.
“Hey Victoria” Pasliee said.
“You’re just in time” Victoria said.
“For what?” Pasliee asked.
“For the chem. Dependency class in a few minutes” Victoria answered.
“But I’m not a drug addict” Pasliee pointed out.
“The class is for everyone, all of them” Victoria explained. After the chemical dependency class, the group had a therapy session, lunch, watched a movie, dinner and a snack before going to bed.
“Goodnight, Pasliee” Victoria said.
“Goodnight, Victoria” Pasliee responded. The next afternoon, Pasliee called her house. To her surprise, Mr. Leighton was home.
“Dad!” Pasliee almost whispered, shocked.
