Entry #1:
Hello? Is this thing on? This is Captain-in-Chief Kjaro speaking! Man, I've always wanted to say that! Anyways, we just took off in the UES Contact Light on our way to some cool planet, dunno its name but I do NOT CARE! It's supposed to be this super cool rescue mission for some sciencey guys that got attacked by monsters or something. Also to deliver some general trade goods like this weird red whip I found lying around. We go into cryofreeze soon which I am NOT looking forward to. Runald doesn't mind, but then again, the dude's got ice in his veins. I'll never understand how we're brothers, not when I'm always so fired up! Anyways, cryofreeze time – I'll check in when it's go time for mission rescue the science guys!
Entry #2:
Is this thing still working? Runald, does this green light mean it's working? Yes? Okay phew, we have some technology left! You probably didn't hear the giant crashing noise since this was turned off, but the UES Contact Light just crashed on the planet we were supposed to be rescuing the people from. No clue if we're gonna be able to save em, but I think we have bigger problems on our hands. There are all these weird creatures around, and it seems like none of them like us humans. I had to blast one in the face with fire just to make them understand I didn't want to fight! Wait, that doesn't make sense. Anyways, Runald and I are finding shelter right now, so I'll update ya soon!
Entry #3:
This is Runald speaking. Kjaro is out getting firewood and told me to make an entry "for old time's sake." I suppose a research log could be useful, but with Kjaro using this as entertainment, I'm not sure how much use I could get out of this. Either way, it seems the wildlife of this planet is completely hostile towards humans. There are lizard-like creatures that I will call "Lemurians" for now, as they resemble the bipedal form of a lemur, despite being reptilian. We have also spotted a massive being in the forest in the distance – though only for a second as it disappeared without a trace. If the beings of this world can teleport, we may never find a truly safe shelter.
Entry #4:
Day number eight of Captain Kjaro and Captain-in-Chief Runald's exploration of this cool planet! Yes, I did just give myself a promotion. No, you can not know why. Actually, you can, it's just that I'm so amazing I deserved it. Why you ask? I found a cache of supplies from the UES Contact Light! Tons of food, water, and weapons! I also found some medicine like this weird, yellow syringe. Runald tells me not to use it because it's "experimental" and "dangerous" and "literally full of adrenaline" but like c'mon man, it looks like banana juice! Since it looks like we'll be around for a while longer, I guess we'll have more updates to come!
Entry #5:
This is Runald speaking. Day eighty-five of survival on the distant planet. Kjaro left the batteries in this burning overnight, so we had to find replacements. I've gathered lots of information, which I have been compiling into a digital logbook that I found within the second week. This will allow me to only impart the important knowledge about our journey onto here. Since the first week, we've had to leave the jungle area which we crashed into and trek in a wide area around where I believe the UES Contact Light had exploded in orbit. We are currently residing in a desert area, inside of a seemingly manmade cavern. It looks like it could have been a tomb of some sort in the past. I just hope it won't be our own.
Entry #6:
While Runald is out on a supply run, I'm stuck here watching the base, so I guess I can tell y'all an update! Day a hundred and three of these daily logs – speaking of which I hope that they all saved, this thing is pretty wonky. Anyways, we're running pretty low on food and general supplies, as well as we're damn near out of weapons. Only thing we really got left are our special wristbands we made in training – no clue how they've lasted this long, but luckily the things on this planet which want to kill us do NOT like extreme temperatures. Runald says he has a lead on the quote-on-quote "tar" of this area, saying that it's alive or some shit? Don't know what he's on about, but if it means I gotta eat tar to stay alive, I will NOT like it.
Entry #7:
*cough* Runald *cough* here. Day two hundred and three. Food has run out, and so has water. Kjaro hasn't spoken a word in a few hours, I think the tar may have jammed his vocal cords. I hypothesized that the tar was organic, meaning we could subside off of it in a last-ditch effort, but it seems I horribly miscalculated something. All of the life on this planet has some sort of "magical property" to it. Normally I would hate myself for saying this, but I can find no other scientific way to explain the hive-mind connection the life on this planet has, and how each one has special abilities. For *cough* example, the tar seems to sap the life out of any organic being nearby it. Which means for the time being, until it passes through our system, we may be rendered immobile.
H-Hey Runald
Kjaro? How are you feeling?
Never better bro, never better. *cough* Maybe I should have chased the tar down with some chocolate milk though as a palate cleanser.
Heh, always a fighter, aren't you Kjaro?
You know it bro.
Entry #8:
*cough cough* Kjaro *hack* here. Runald's dead. Been three days since the tar, and I hardly have the energy to move. *cough* I don't feel too good, *cough* and I don't think we're getting rescued. This is probably the last log I can record, so this damn thing better save. If anyone hears this, stay away from the tar. Some weird life form shits use it as weaponry apparently, and they used some weird technology to block the entrance to this cave – wait, I think I heard it open. Whatever, it's not like I can turn my head to look at what comes in. I'm just so tired man, so tired, so tired, so... tired...
The man took off his helmet and set his sword to the side. He cast a look to the two skeletons on the ground, their pelvises and ribcages covered in a thick, solidified tar, and a band on each one's right wrists – one red, and one white. He gave a silent prayer of safety for the brothers' souls, and then added one more for him and his crew.
"Anything down here Merric?" The man turned to see his crewmate, Artie, had entered the cave. She let an orb of fire expand from her palm, granting them more light.
Merric sighed, "Just more UES crew. Two brothers, it seemed."
"Oh..."
Merric donned his helmet again and grasped his sword. "Nothing we can do now. If nothing else, I'd like to take their bands and this logbook for when we get off this hellscape. Maybe find their family and deliver them."
"Merric, be honest. Are we ever getting off of this planet?" Artie's eyes told it all – they'd only been on the planet for a week, but she was already weary and fatigued.
"We have to. If for no other reason than to carry their legacy."
