That was the oldest memory of us. I sighed and continued eating the cookies I made. It was afternoon when I woke up. I didn't know I fell asleep while watching television. The fire-like rays of the sun that's setting down is passing through the glass swing-out windows. I lazily sat down on the couch and checked my phone. I was bombarded by calls and texts from different persons and unknown numbers.
I stretched my arms and yawned. I opened the messages from the person who's not giving up on calling and texting me since morning. The excitement ran through my veins when she said she's on her way here. I thought of cooking for her but then it is less hassle if we're just going to a restaurant.
I went upstairs to prepare for my clothes. I took a bath because I want to freshen up. The coldness of the gentle water that's coming out from the holes of the metal shower is lingering. I can see the smokes coming out from my body. I closed my eyes and raised my left arm. I tried moving my wrist in circular motion. I felt a familiar piercing pain. I gritted my teeth and continued moving it until it is unbearable. I cursed then put my arm down. I stared at it and recalled what happened.
I was heading towards my locker. My sweat is dripping and I can feel my heartbeat. I'm holding a bottled water that Gisela gave me. I opened the cap and emptied it then tossed it in a near trash can. I immediately looked for my extra clothes then proceeded to the shower room. I looked for a vacant cubicle then took a bath. I immediately changed my clothes. All I think is going home right now. I feel tired after the game. I almost cursed when I remembered I left my knee pads and elbow supporters at the volleyball court. I grasped the strap of my gym bag then hung it on my shoulder.
I was about to run when my left leg wobbled. My hand searched for something to hold on to but there's none. I fell on the wet floor of the shower room. My left wrist with the bracelet was hit hardly on the floor. The pain is mixed with numbness and it is excruciating. I rolled to the other side while holding my wrist. I was rolling like crazy on the floor not knowing how to ease the pain. I bit my lips and my eyes started to blur. I was grunting with pain. I was lying on the floor with my shirt and pants wet but it is not my priority. I just want the pain to stop.
I mentally wished that someone will help me then I heard the door opened. I was engulfed with the pain but I managed to mumble the words help. I heard shouts and I felt I was lifted from the wet floor. I opened my eyes and I can't recognize their faces because my eyes are a bit blurry. I can see that they are all wearing red. I think they are from other school. I heard the person carrying me cursing then I passed out.
The blinding white light from the fluorescent awakened me. My eyes are adjusting to the light then I noticed the white ceilings and walls. I can hear the noise of the air conditioner. I slowly get up and a familiar voice shouted.
"Oh my! Yeshua, just lay down!" A worried Gisela stood up from the couch then hurried to my hospital bed. She doesn't know what to do. "W-wait! I'm gonna call the doctor," she said and went to the intercom.
I looked at my left arm with a cast. I pouted and tried to move it when a male doctor came in. "Hi Mr. Alvero. I'm Dr. Madrigal, your physician. How are you?" He smiled showing his perfect set of white teeth. I saw Gisela moved behind the doctor. I don't know if she's listening or sniffing the doctor's shoulder. I looked back to the doctor. "Well, I can't feel any pain," I replied.
He nodded then looked at the paper he's holding. "It's because you've been injected with anesthesia. For now, you can't feel any pain," he explained. "Your left arm is fractured. In your case it is a direct trauma. You are not allowed to move your arm. You're lucky because we don't need to cut it," my eyes widened at what he said and he just laughed at my reactions.
I heard Gisela shrieked. I looked at her and I almost rolled my eyes when I saw her looking at the doctor with so much adoration like she's willing to give herself willingly right now. "Thankfully, it is not needed," I sighed. I can't imagine playing volleyball with just one hand.
"You should take your medicine it is here," Dr. Madrigal handed me a piece of paper. I looked at it and I can't understand any word. "You must wear an arm sling," he continued. "Uhm, can I play volleyball maybe next week?" Hoping for a positive answer because the championship game is next week. "Definitely no." He said. "About your expenses and bills, it is all paid along with the following check-ups," he continued then bid his goodbyes.
Gisela is jumping and screaming. I didn't mind her because I'm thinking who paid for the bills. "H-hey! Hey! Gisela! Stop!" She's panting when she stopped then she faced me. "What? The doctor is hot?" She raised her eyebrows. "No! Who paid for the bill?" I asked her. "Oh! I don't know his name but guess what!" She smiled like crazy. "What?" I furrowed my eyebrows. "He's freakin' hoooot!" She shouted again. I want to cover my ears but sadly I can't move the other hand. "He's wearing a shirt from a prestigious school."
Our school is the host of this year's area meet so it's obvious why they are there. I think he's from Rowling University because it is the only prestigious school here in our place. "He's wearing red shirt along with his teammates. Maybe a basketball player or a volleyball player?" She said unsure.
I snapped out of my deep thoughts. I turned off the shower then I grabbed my towel and went out of the bathroom. Anytime soon that girl will be here and I know she hates waiting so I have to get dressed right now. I wore a white polo with a Chinese collar, light brown pants and dark brown loafers. I fixed my hair and let it fall on the side.
I sprayed some Calvin Klein's Eternity perfume. I grabbed my phone and wallet then went downstairs. I almost jumped when I saw her on the couch sitting like a boss with her long legs crossed. She's wearing a black bodycon dress that hugs every curves of her body paired with an open toe stiletto heels. Her hair is in a high ponytail. She wore silver accessories. She's glaring at me like I did some crime and her red lips is in a pout.
I smiled at her then opened my arms for a hug. She stood up and walked towards me like what she does on the runway. When she got near, she slapped my face jokingly then hugged me. How I miss this girl. I missed our craziness and all. She pushed me then scanned my face.
"You look ugly!" I rolled my eyes at her. "My dear Gisela, don't say that when you always say to the press that we're a thing," she acted like she's throwing up. "When are you going to tell them that you're dating Dr. Erik Madrigal?" I asked her. She crossed her arms. "Are you going to hot seat me when you've been away for half a decade?" She gave me a sarcastic look.
"Well, I can't blame you. Erik's really hot and still a bachelor," I shrugged my shoulders then continued pissing her off. She put her hand on my mouth. "Don't worry, I'm gonna tell the press soon about us." Even though I am abroad, sometimes I watch her interviews and I want to vomit when she says we are a thing just to cover up their shits.
