Dear Little Fish

They deemed you dead,
Eyes, frozen, terrified in your head.
Your body cut open,
No sense of hope
Until your little heart moved
We thought you could be saved
But no
Our teacher said nay.
And still, despite belief,
You were cut open.
But we should not cry
Although you did die,
You can now forever be swimming in the reef
Without fear of predators
Or prey
There you'll live until the end of Earth's days.
We praise you dear yellow tail fish
For you were surely lovely
And one day I hope
That we can meet again
And swim until the end,
The end of Earth's days.
