Chapter 3

Percy's pov
After hearing so much about beacon hills I had expected something much worse. When I had arrived at beacon hills high I had found out that I liked it much better than most of the schools I had studied in before. Students were nice, teachers were alright. The only weird thing I had noticed that this kid Stiles Stilinski kept on staring at me in a weird creepy way that made me want to go right up to his face and scream 'I have a girlfriend!'

To say that there was nothing weird about this place other than Stilinski would be wrong since this place had a very high body count and missing person cases when compared with it's population. And also a very very high number of animal attacks. The most disturbing thing was that most of the crimes that happened somehow seemed to be connected to the high school. Recently, probably a few weeks before we had arrived, two girls had been injured in an animal attack and one killed.

Dryads and Satyrs had reported very disturbing things happening in this place. After getting kicked out of my last school me and Annabeth decided to check this place out because Chiron was getting more and more suspicious about this place and the number of deaths seems to suggest this town had a lot of nasty monsters hidden inside. And what better way was there to do that other than joining high school and pretending ot be innocent high school students. And no it wasn't because no other school would take me in anymore.

I had dragged Nico along with us because that kid really needed a change of place. He had gone through a lot more than any boy of his age should. We all had but him especially.

After arriving in here I realized that we did not really have much to do. We had reported to the local Satyrs about our appearance and they had told us that this place had more animals and animal attacks than it could hold. And the dryads from deep in the woods had reported seeing disturbing creatures which was neither human nor animal.

When I was in the locker room I heard Scott Mccall, who was Stilinski's friend, and one of his other friends talking about meeting up in the school at night and then how they had to succeed this time or all their lives would be in danger. Was this supposed to be a secret or something? If so they had failed miserably since I don't know how any one standing within a 5 mile radius couldn't hear them.

This sounded really interesting. Why would they meet up at the school at night? What was this about not succeeding being a threat to their lives? This could have a really innocent reason. Maybe they were talking about an online gaming community they were a part of. Or  maybe they were serial killers and were meeting up to talk about their next victim. Anyways I did not really have anything to do tonight and I really wanted some action. And also it seemed that Stiles Stilinski was  involved in this and I was really suspicious about that guy. I already did not like him. When I had asked if I could borrow a pen he had looked at me like I had asked him if I could cut off his head and take it home.

Annabeth and Nico weren't really hyped about going to school at night to stalk on teenagers who could be completely innocent. But they agreed to come with me, upon threats that I would go alone, telling I would seriously mess up things if I did. I wasn't proud to admit that they were probably right.

For the rest of the day at school Nico continued to talk me out of it telling me I had probably heard something different from what they were actually telling. But I wasn't complying. Something told me I was right. And also I don't trust that Stilinski guy.

At night we arrived at the school full on stealth mode to find..... nothing. Annabeth and Nico seemed to be really annoyed by this and wanted to go back. I told them that I had this feeling that something was up and we had to check the place out. We split up. Annabeth went inside the school through the back entrance. Nico and I went to check out the other side of the school. I had brought Nico along with me telling that I might need some help. But honestly, I did not feel safe letting him go off alone.

We reach the other side of the school and we see.... nothing.

"There is nothing in here!" Nico whispers to me angrily. Yeah I can see that Nico. But then I realize that there was something in there. I see a jeep which I recognize as Stilinski's jeep, hidden behind a few trees.

"Nico" I whisper urgently, motioning him to follow me. We reach the jeep and find it unlocked. I open it slowly and see some silverish device that looked like a stick.

"What is that?" Nico asks. "How am I supposed to know that?" I reply and then I find some kind of button on it. Without thinking I press it down.

The top of the device starts blinking lights. Then I hear these footfalls from the front of the school coming toward us. Fast.

Something told me that these sudden footsteps approaching were triggered by the device. I think Nico realized that too because he yells at me,"Make it stop." I press down on the button again but the lights don't go out.

" I can't!" I reply. Nico tries to snatch it from my hand and starts groping over it for any buttons, but dosen't have any success. And then we look up and see a group of people running towards us.

The one in the front has... fangs and claws! And it is also running right towards me. I barely have time to realize that the others were Stilinski and his group of friends and get riptide out of my pocket before he leaps at me.

I sidestep him easily. He seems surprised by this. I drop the silver device and dodges as he lunges at me with his claws which was really scary. I go into full battle mode fighting and dodging and eventually lunge at him with my sword producing a cut across his chest. Stilinski and his friends were standing there dumbstruck and Nico wad doing exactly that while I was getting killed by some kind of creature! But it was alright. The boy was an easy opponent. I  had just been surprised at the beginning. I get ready to strike my death blow when my beautiful, amazing girlfriend comes leaping forward, drawing her drakon bone sword and thrusts it into the boys chest. He crumbles into dust as it usually happens with monsters.

I thank Nico for his amazing help that had saved my life and he complains he was surprised. Really Nico? Aren't you supposed to be trained for these kind of situations.

I notice Annabeth walking towards the group.

"Who-" she begins and stops herself noticing the fangs and claws on some of them and asks "What the hell are you guys?"

"That's a rude question Annabeth." I mutter, still dusting off monster dust off myself.
