(POV: Author)

I sit at my desk with my laptop open. Two people walk into my room and sit down. I look up from my laptop and they both smile at me.

(Y/N): Hey.

Me: Hey guys.

Ruby: So! How's the Halloween special coming along?

Me: Right... about that, Ruby. It's... I'm not gonna post it.

Ruby/ (Y/N): WHAT!?

(Y/N): Dude, your readers were kinda looking forward to that. I think it would have been a very interesting story! What made you cancel it?

Me: Well, here's the thing. I haven't even finished it.

Ruby: Lazy ass.

(Y/N): Ruby!

Ruby: (Y/N)! I'm 16! Besides, you swear all the time. Why can't I?

Me: Guys, stop fighting. I can explain.

(Y/N): Alright then. Shoot.

Me: I haven't finished it because... I've been feeling a bit on edge recently.

Ruby: What's wrong?

Me: So... a while ago, I confessed to my crush, and it turns out... she likes me a lot.

(Y/N): Oh, that's awesome dude!

Me: Recently, I saw her hugging this other dude, which on a normal circumstance, I wouldn't mind. And I shouldn't. She can have friends who are guys as well as I can have friends who are girls. Which we both do.

Ruby: So why are you on edge, exactly?

Me: At the beginning of the year, we got placed in separate classes. We see each other once every other day not including the weekends. And lately, she's told me about the hard things that have been going on in her life. And what sucks the most is that I can't be there for her because we hardly see each other. What I'm afraid of is that her guy friend that she keeps hugging is changing the way she feels about me. It's more or less of a jealousy thing because he can be there for her while I can't. She's reassured me about where we stand on our relationship but I can't help but harbor some doubts. She's really important to me. I don't know what I would do if I were to lose her or anything.

Ruby: Well, you gotta tell her about it. Like the song!

Me: Tell her what? I don't feel comfortable when she hugs other guys? They're her friends! I can't tell her to stay away from her friends! That's a recipe for a toxic relationship. And that's the last thing I want. I want her to be happy with me too you know?

(Y/N): I get it man. I wouldn't want another dude flirting with Ruby either. What you need to to is help her find ways to reassure you that she likes you a lot and that she would never do that to you. And you can't expect her to do all the work. You need to remind her too. Like Ruby said, tell her about it. Remind her how you feel. Give her every reason to accept that you are for real.

Me: Easy for you to say.

Ruby: What do you mean?

Me: Guys... please stop talking for a bit...

(Y/N): Hey... are you okay?

Me: Stop... just stop, okay? The only reason everything works out for the two of you is because neither of you are real! You are both figments of my own imagination! Ruby isn't even part of mine! I'm tired of writing stories with happy endings. Especially because they hide the horrible truths of the doubts I'm feeling in my own life! I... I need a break.

Ruby: Are... are you saying...?

Me: I'm... taking a break from writing. I need some time to think about things...

(Y/N): You're serious? What about the story? Are you just gonna leave it unfinished?

Me: Don't worry. I'm gonna post the rest of the volume on Saturday. After that, I'm done.

Ruby: Are you gonna come back?

Me: I... I dunno. I don't like being depressed. I should be back hopefully.

Ruby and (Y/N) stand up.

Ruby: Well, at least try to follow the advice we gave you. You'll be fine. We know you will.

(Y/N): Just... take it easy, okay B-?

Me: DON'T SAY MY REAL NAME!!

(Y/N):... Right... sorry Mr. Kool... man...

Ruby: Take care, Mr author. We hope you get better.

Me: Thanks guys...

They walk to the doorway. As Ruby walks out, (Y/N) turns to face me.

(Y/N): Remember, tell her about it. Feel better, okay?

Me: You got it man. Thanks.

He walks out the door and I close my laptop. I walk out and I pull out my phone. I select a contact and sent a message.

Text message

Me: Hey

Her: Hey

Me: Can I tell you something?

Hey everybody. I'm sorry about the Halloween Special. Really, I am. I just needed to be honest with someone. Whether it was someone I knew, or people who I don't know who support me anyway. This story was straight from the heart and its how I really feel. I really am gonna take a break until I feel right again. I'm not sure when that will be, but I promise. I will be back. Thanks for understanding.
