Catherine's POV
"Its over Catherine, I never wanna see you again!!"
"Fine then, the feelings mutual, you can leave my house now!"
"So be it, but I'm taking my daughter with me"
"Not on your life! You're leaving the same way you came...empty!!"
Davis*narrows his eyes and spits* of course. It's too bad you'll never change. Goodbye Catherine.....
His words kept ringing in my ear like a bell as I slowly woke up from a short nap on my office desk. I felt irritated and annoyed with myself. Why was I still hurt by that maniacs words? He had made his decision, and I had made mine. Everyone was supposed to be happy, right?
I slowly raised my head up and rubbed my eyes. God I was exhausted. I glanced at the wall clock on my right and gasped loudly at what I saw.
"Shit, 10:00!(pm)"
I quickly stood up and began packing up the scattered files and papers on the table, and flung them all in my drawer like they weren't important. I then picked up my bag and made to open the door before I turned around to check if I had forgotten anything. Oh great, I had and none other than my phone...again.
"Not this time!" I declared. I ran and picked it up before running out of the office and slamming the door shut.
As I walked downstairs and through the hallway, I met one of my male co-workers (and secret admirers) coming out of an office with some paper in his hand.
"Let me guess, you overslept again?" He asked with a smirk.
"You're an asshole Bryan. I'll see you tomorrow" I smiled as I walked pass him.
"Don't forget to say high to Daisy for me!!"
"I will!!"
I walked into the parking lot and hopped into my Lexus Jeep, which I had gotten as a birthday gift from my dad. I turned on the ignition and zoomed off like a flash of lightning.
As I drove, I turned to the digital clock/radio on my dashboard and shook my head at the time.
10:30pm already.
Daisy's sooo gonna kill me when I get home I thought.
"If she'll even talk to me" I thought out loud.
Ever since she learnt that her dad left home, I noticed that she stopped being her quirky and jovial self. She was always so cold towards me. She no longer scolded me for coming home late or wait up all night for me. All she ever did was come home from school, have some dinner and then shut herself in her room all day, like she didn't have a family. I knew that she was still mad at me for sending her dad away, and that nicompoop of a husband I had had filled her head with nonsense, but I wouldn't give up on her.
As I drifted out of my thoughts, I noticed that I was still feeling sleepy. My sight started to become blurry and I started feeling dizzy. Like I always did when I felt like dozing off. Knowing that I was trying to attempt my own murder, I quickly turned on my radio and tuned up the volume to the highest, but I only succeed in adding more to my drowsiness. I began closing my eyes and lowering my head.
Then it happened.
Almost immediately, I heard a loud thud, and I got jerked out of my seat, hitting my head on the roof of my car in the process. By this time, all traces of sleep had vanished from my eyes.
What just happened?
"Ouch!" I screamed in pain. As I was caressing my throbbing head, I noticed people screaming and gathering around my car. It was then that I realized what had happened. I had hit something...or someone.
"Oh no"
I widened my eyes in realization and desperately wished it wasn't the latter. I shot out of the car, ran to the front and let out a terrible scream as my eyes landed on the gory sight.
Oh great, it was a someone.. again. Bravo Catherine Hamilton.
"What were you thinking young lady? Don't you know how to use your brakes?" Inquired a bald, pot bellied man with a disfigured face.
"But it's not even her fault. This young lady suddenly ran across the road like someone who didn't know that this was a busy road. I think she's a psychiatric patient, because I saw everything." Defended another woman.
I ignored their arguments and picked up the half dead woman. I prayed desperately under my breath that she wasn't fully dead. The last thing I wanted was to be responsible for the funeral of someone I didn't even know, when I had a ten year old daughter to feed. I just wished this was a nightmare, and that I would wake up soon.
I layed her at the back seat of my car and quickly dashed to the driver's seat. I turned on my ignition and reversed the car, before zooming off in search of the nearest hospital.
I soooo wasn't gonna go home tonight....
