4 • A Broken Dream? X Gati is Here!

(Narrator's P.O.V.)

"Seiichi, must we really do this? Easter has so many eyes on this one girl." Whining and trying to make her performance as real as possible, the brown haired girl Chara Changed, gaining her a pair of angel wings and a ribbon tie in her ponytail. "Oh Seeeii~chi! Please, oh please, can we go and get some ramen or something~?!" Ending with her signature puppy-dog eyes, Seiichi gracefully reached across and slapped her.

"H-Hey!!!"

"Jun... you better stay quiet..." Devil wings and horns appeared on Seiichi, fashioning him well with his periwinkle blue hair. "Remember I can Chara Change as well, angel." Spatting out 'angel', Jun tackled him, sending them both to the ground.

"You little...!"

"U~seless~..."

"X-Egg?..." In sync, they both got up and looked around anxiously.

"Impossible... No... How?!"

Their eyes darted to the Ace that they were spying on. It was her Egg--one that just hatched. The Guardian Chara had already gone back to its Egg; it came to her to claim it's X.

What had this girl done to destroy her own dream?

They didn't follow me, thank godness...

I ran, and ran, and ran until I fell in the middle of the trees.

All of this had to be one messed up dream... I mean, first I gave birth to Eggs, then I was talking I air because I thought I heard Kirchi... I might as well pinch myself now.

Responding to my thoughts, I did... same state. Repeat... same thing. Nope, not dreaming... it must be Japan! But... why would I give birth to my would-be-selves here?...

Rhema and Gati... they're mine, and here to help me, even when I don't want help. Rhema might be nice to have around, but Gati...? She must be my dream if being myself, but I don't want to. I can't be myself, ever!

PANG!

My heart... what's happening?!

(Narrator's P.O.V.)

"Gati-chan, Rhema-chan, Sachiko-san will be back soon, I know it." Kei smiled softly, hoping she actually was right.

"Kei-chan, do you think she'll give up...?" Even if Miwa was the oldest, her personality made her seem like a third-year elementary student.

"She won't...!" Kiyoshi whispered, most likely to reassure himself.

Akihiko didn't dare say anything, he just observed Gati. He knew what was about to happen--Gati was going to become an X-Chara, and soon. He could hear Sachiko's thoughts; it was a thing his family acquired after being in the King's Chair since the first King, Tsukasa Amakawa.

PANG!

She said it.

Gati's eyes went wide, shakily saying, "U-Use... less..." Her Egg's two halves appeared above and below the Chara. At an unusual pace, the Egg closed in on Gati, consuming her into Sachiko's broken dream. The Egg yelled in Gati's strange, new voice, "Impossible!!!" She rushed through the door, going to wherever Sachiko was hidden.

My heart feels like it broke... Is this what it feels like to give up your dream?... it must be...

"Impossible..."

Looking up, I saw something worse. Gati's Egg was right in front of my eyes. It looked like what it did this morning, but something wasn't there... the energy of Gati. The Egg started to get darker in color, and a big white X appeared on her Egg.

"U~seless~..."

"No... How?! G... Gati!! What did I do?!" Right on queue, her Egg began hatching. She's coming back!!! Her Egg went through the last crack, revealing Gati... but it wasn't her.

"Gati...?"

"Sachiko..."

"Yes... wait, what happened to Sachi-chan?!" Tears began streaming down my face, but Gati didn't care.

"Sachiko, you gave up on your dream. When you do that, this is what happens to Guardian Charas."

I finally looked at her; her cat ears ears were torn in different places, her hair was now tied back into a ponytail, her normal eye was now a dull purple, and her cat eyes was wide (the pupil was). And 'X' scar was across her cat eye, and she wore a completely different outfit. Her hoodie was now black, with the sleeves tore off, and a 'X' clip holding it together.

"You're a..."

"X-Chara... You no longer own me, because you've given up on me--your dream."

"No... Gati, please!!"

"It is too late... Sachiko, I leave you with one final message:

"You can never be yourself until you see everything.

"Only then, will I return to you."

I was so stunned to say anything. My Guardian Chara is leaving me--possibly forever.

"Until next time, Sachiko." Gati flew away, into the shadows of the trees.

She actually left... my only chance of hope. I began crying,

I can never be the old Sachi-chan.

(Narrator's P.O.V.)

"Wow..." Jun said speechless. The Ace actually lost her Guardian Chara.

"I'm leaving, she's less of a threat now." Seiichi hollered from a few feet away. "No interacting with the enemy. Meet me at the ramen shop." Nodding, Seiichi left Jun there.

Jun looked to her side, only to find X Gati (as she is now an X-Chara).

"... You will take care of me, okay?"

A yawning came from Jun's school uniform pocket. "Aaa~, Juuuun-chan, who's that~?"

What had Jun just got herself into?
