Jade's P.O.V.I am in a hospital, I finally realize as I wake up after blacking our, again. At least I'm not as disoriented as I was the last time I was awake. But I can't quite pinpoint why I was in the hospital in the first place. What happened?
"Oh, you're awake". I jump, not realizing that there was someone else with me.
Wait, I've heard that voice before. Why does it sound so familiar?
The memories come flooding back as my green eyes met with his his hazel ones. He was the one that saved me. I could've died.
I can only manage to swallow as I frantically think of something to say. But what do you say to someone you barely know? The last time I had encountered him, I was so dizzy and disoriented, I wasn't able to speak at all.Just say something before it gets awkward!
" H-Hi..."
Wow, way to go. Once again, my brain and mouth aren't coordinated.
" What's your name? " He looks at me, waiting for my answer, almost like he cared about my answer.
"I'm, um..." Crap, what's my name, again?,
"Jade!" I finally answer once my memory comes back to me.He doesn't seem weirded out, yet. I guess that's a good thing.
"Jade," the way he said my name made my heart stop. " Thats a nice name. "
His smile was almost as beautiful as his eyes.
" I'm Ross" he said. Ross. Yep, he definitely looks like a Ross. That name suits him.
I tried to say something, anything. For some reason, my brain couldn't think of things to say."Thank you", I manage to say, " you know, for not leaving me there..."
"Oh, that was nothing..." He answered, his voice trailing off.
I sat up, tired of laying down this whole time, my muscles screaming in protest.
Thats when I noticed his hand on mine. How long had his hand been there? I couldn't concentrate. Someone was holding my hand.
He seemed to notice that I had noticed, because he took his hand away from mine. Cold air seeped through my hand, and I missed the warmth of his.
"I-I'm sorry..." Ross stuttered, barely looking me in the eye.
Great, now everything is awkward.
Ross's P.O.V
This is crazy. I shouldn't be doing this. And yet I was doing it anyway. I was probably going to get kicked out for sneaking into someone's hospital room.
She was asleep when I quietly walked in. Her face didn't look as sickly as it did in the back of my car. She was still covered in bruises, her face black and blue. She didn't look in pain, but appeared peaceful, almost.
Not wanting to wake her, I sat down in a chair next to her bed, and watched her sleep. But not in a creepy way...
She was saying nonsense in her sleep, just like my siblings say I do when I'm asleep.
I leaned forward, resting my hands on the railing attached to the hospital bed. Thats when it happened.
As if she were awake, she reached for my hand, and held it. Should I pull away? Should I just go with it?
When our hands touched, the feeling was indescribable. My heart was beating so fast, I was scared she would hear it and wake up.
So I just sat there, holding her hand -- or she was holding my hand...-- and waited for her to wake up.
