chapter 10.

"Sure Bliss you can ask me anything." She says although I can see her shoulders tense. Why is she so tense?
" Um....so...I saw in a picture on the wall, three ...umm.. Marthas....and I was wondering where the third sister is?"
At this point she tensing fast and she tries to replace it with a fake smile.

She walks to me and takes my hands in hers.
"Look Bliss..I could tell you but .....it's not in my position to do so." She says her eyes pleading me to understand and just let it go. I don't want to be pushy so I let it go. I give an understanding smile and nod and she gives me a silent thank you.
I'm more and more intrigued but come to think of it, I've never been a person to stick my nose in other people's business.

She gets back to preparing dinner and I help her in cutting up veggies. We continue talking about anything else apart from personal details. I find out she is a big fan of dancing too and that is what we discuss for the rest of the time.

Once dinner is ready,she calls out the rest of the family after we finish setting up the table.
They all come down expect for Drax and Martha. Max is not there too but I was expecting that. I don't think he is even in the house. Martha requests for food to be taken to her room and I gladly do it. After a very short supper with no talk at all, they say their good nights and head to their rooms. I want to help Bernadette wash the dishes but she refuses and I don't push it. I'm honestly tired too.
I expect to see Max laying on the bed with his usual smirk on the face but I'm gravely disappointed when I find the room empty and cold. I get under the covers and try to find some sleep.
After twisting and turning in the bed without any luck, a feeling of fear washes over me. It's windy ... really windy and I don't like that whistling sound the wind makes. I stay still under the covers with only my eyes poking out. A creak come from the creak wooden floor and I jump without thinking and switch on the lights. Its not even that late it's only around 8 pm but it's not like New York where there are numerous street lights.

I decided against switching off the lights and put on a song on my phone. Some old school music that is slow and will hopefully help me sleep.

It still doesn't work so I try the only thing that gets me exhausted enough. Dancing. With the songs in my phone. I dance around in the space I have just letting the beats and rythmic flow take over me. Soon enough, I'm panting like a dog. I take another short shower but this time I decide on wearing a pair of short shorts and Max's long t-shirt.

I feel my body asking me for sleep and I happily oblige. A beep escapes from my phone but I ignore it. I'm thinking about nothing and everything and sleep slowly drifts me away.

A soft and barely heard knock exists from the door. Max?! No...Max wouldn't knock....I sure hoped it was Max though. Or maybe Martha?! Lemme just check. I stand up to go check then a soft continuous scratch is what i hear now. My heart is racing but really want to see who is at the door. I reach for the door knob and twist it slowly. At first I see nothing because it's dark in the halls. I take my head out the door slightly and peep first to my left then right. All air escapes my lungs and a very strong pair of hands cover my face almost throwing me off my feet.

" No..no..no...don't scream Bliss it's me Drax.." the tall figure says. I remember his voice from today in the morning.
" Oh...I'm sorry...I don't know why I'm so jumpy. Umm. How may I help you Drax"

"Actually..." He begins scratching the back of his head "I was hoping to talk to Max about something."

He seems sweet because my first impression of him was opposite of sweet. But I guess loosing a parent is not an easy load to carry. I should know..I've lost both.

" Oh... umm....Max is not here yet,but when he comes I'll be sure to ask him."

" No..it's okay. I can talk to you as well."

" Exactly...what is it do you want to talk about?"

"Umm..I just lost my mom and I was just hoping to to get it off my chest by at least talking to someone"

" Oh...sure...come in come in"

He does exactly that and sits on the bed. I don't lock the door. I sit next to him and motion him to start talking.

" Umm...well..I just feel lost."

He says and doesn't continue. I feel like he should be telling me more but he doesn't. He just stares at me with his gorgeous blue eyes . For a minute, I think that's not all he wanted to talk about and my suspicion was confirmed when he leaned in a little bit. Then a lot. Suddenly his face was right in from mine I could even feel his hot breath on my face. He placed his hand on my thigh and he started moving it slowly towards my panties. He tried to kiss me but I gave him my neck feeling awkward. His touch did wonders to me nonetheless ,but not as much as Max. MAX!!! Where is he?

"What is going on here? What are doing Drax?" Think of the devil. Drax quickly stopped what he was doing and his head shot up. He was obviously visibly scared of big bad Max. I too shot up from the bed and looked at my feet. I was embarrassed. But why? I hated that Max had to see that. In no time at all , Max was moving towards Drax dangerously and pounced on him without thinking. I was petrified. Nailed to the ground.

Max was tearing Drax apart. Not literally but Drax missed every swing he shot Max ducked and countered with a more dangerous one.

"STOP!!! Please?..." I shouted but It's like I was not even there. Going between them didn't seem like a good idea.

I could get battered myself.

Then out of nowhere, Martha showed up. " For fucks sake what the hell is going on here?" She was obviously annoyed." I'm just sick and tired of the shit you give me Max. Why are you and Drax fighting huh?"

They said nothing none of them spoke. They just panted heavily.

" I'm sorry Martha,I was in here with Bliss when this freak show just brought the fight."

Alot of questions, answers and crude remarks mostly from Max were aired out.

Drax tried to defend himself while Martha questioned Max who was acting like he didn't give a shit. I stood there perplexed,but I needed to stop this.

" Umm Martha" I interjected as all eyes turned to me. " Drax was in here cuz he needed some advice and when Max walked in he thought something terrible was happening because I was hugging Drax...that's why he launched at him"

Martha didn't looked convinced but nodded her head slowly nonetheless and left the room with one statement, " get some sleep y'all....we have to leave early in the morning."

Max looked at Drax... scratch that,he glared at him with dark eyes and he left without another word.

I slowly walked to Max who had a slightly busted lip. His eyes were closed and he was sitting on the bed head down. I got in between his legs and tried to raise up his chin. He looked up and his green eyes met mine. I run my thumb on his lip but he didn't wince even a little but.

" What are you doing?" Max asked his eyebrows furrowed together slightly.

" I saw that you have a busted lip and I wanted to check it out"

" Like you were 'checking out ' my stupid cousin. He said obviously annoyed and did air quotes around checking out.

" Why are you upset." I said throwing my hands up in defeat.

" Oh...so I come in here to find my cousin and the girl I ........ You.. making out on my bed and I'm supposed to be happy about it."

" We weren't even making out.....he was about to but I refused. Why I'm I even explaining myself to you. You don't own me ....this might be your bed room but this is not your body." I said getting annoyed myself.

His eyes raked my body again and he swallowed hard but he tried to hide it with a cough. That's when I got a whiff of alcohol from his mouth. He was drunk. Well, not drunk but he has being drinking.

And with that he got up and got under the covers and within minutes he was snoring. I too got in bed and drifted into sleep it had been a long day and I couldn't wait to get back to New York.
