"I changed my mind. I don't want to do this." I told my father, as I paced back and forth in my bedroom. "I mean, it is my choice. I'm the one looking for a husband here. I'm too young. What if they hate me? Or think I'm ugly? Or they hate me and think I'm ugly?!" I questioned him.

He began to laugh. "I'm serious! What if he's unhappy and thinks I look disgusting? I cannot have a husband who won't even look at me!" I exclaimed, as I thumped down on the bed. "That's it, I'm not going."

"Izzy." My dad said, as he put a hand on my shoulder. "You look so beautiful. All those men out there are going to love you. I promise. You look stunning, you're a smart girl, and you have a great heart. What's not to like?" I smiled a little as he said this. "And plus, you have my looks, so that's a plus right there." He said, and I laughed.

"Thanks. I guess I'm just nervous." I replied, as I gave him a hug. "I'm ready. Let's do this." I stated, as I got up off the bed. "Bring on the guys! Er, vampires!" I corrected myself. This caused him to chuckle.

"You will be perfectly fine sweetheart, I assure you."

I felt a little better. But then a thought hit me. "Oh...is Owen going to be there tonight? "Because if he is he has to be really nice to---" I was interrupted by a soft knock at the door.

Walking towards it, I swung it open. My jaw nearly dropped when I saw Owen. He had on a tuxedo, and he looked stunning. Yes, I know stunning is a strange word to call a man, but it's the best I could think of. He looked so...handsome.

"Owen." I breathed, as if in some sort of daze.

He stared at me closely, and I watched his eyes move up and down me. Shaking his head, he cleared his throat. "Um, hey. You look---nice." He replied slowly. Owen then focused his attention on my dad. "Sir, everyone's downstairs." He said, as he moved inside the room. "Shall we?" He asked, and my father nodded.

"Yes, of course. Now please tell my daughter she looks beautiful. She's panicking over the whole party." My dad stated, as he stood next to me and put his arm around my shoulder. I felt a blush creep into my cheeks.

"Dad, it's okay I really don't need him to---" I began to protest, but Owen chimed in before I could finish.

"You look great Izzy." He said slowly, and I could feel my cheeks flush. He complimented me. Wow, I never thought this day would come. Then again, he's probably just kissing my dad's ass.

"Uh, thanks Owen. You look very handsome yourself." I told him, and he gave me a quick smile. "Let's go dad. I want to get this over with." I groaned, as I scooted past both of them and headed down the hall.

I was really nervous. My stomach was in a knot, and my palms began to sweat. Just breathe Izzy. It's just guys. A room full of bloodthirsty, hormone filled men. Come on, I can do this. Everything will be just fine. I just need to relax.

We reached the double doors to the ballroom, as I took a deep breath. Here we go. My dad handed me a what looked like a mask, and I stared at him strangely. It was crimson, and it went perfect with my dress. "It's a masquerade party. You'll be fine sweetie." My father murmured, as he pushed open the doors.

I quickly slipped it on. As I walked in, I could feel everybody's eyes go on me right away. I just smiled shyly, and continued walking towards the middle of the ballroom. "Thank you all for coming!" My father exclaimed. "My daughter Isabella is very excited, and she hopes to dance with each of you. This is quite an important date. For it marks the beginning of a new life for myself, and my beautiful daughter. Enjoy yourself, and have a wonderful time!" He said, as he clapped his hands.
