A few years ago, Aphmau moved to this new village with her mom after her father died of unknown reasons. People in this village thought she and her mother were weird.
Aphmau wasn't like the other girls in the village either she liked reading, writing, painting, and most importantly, she believed that she didn't need to be a housewife. But most girls were eyeing Gene. Really there wasn't anything special about Gene, besides that he was special, mentally. He is one of the strongest men in the village but Aphmau didn't want strength in the muscles. But Gene didn't care at all and he asked her every day if she would marry him.
Every.
Single.
Day.
But she always refused.
Every.
Single.
Time.
Today Aphmau needed to go into town for bread and a new book to read. Holding her basket in hand she walked down the street, everyone was saying good morning to each other. She walks down the road to the bakery. As she picked up the loaf of bread she wanted she gave the baker the few coins she had in her pocket and thanked him. She walked to the library. When she arrived at the building she opened the door and stepped in.
"Oh! Welcome, Aphmau! Have you finished another book?"
"Yes Logan I have, it was amazing."
"I'm glad to hear, what book today?"
She walks to the small bookshelf and picked up a book with a red cover, "I'll take this one again."
"But you already read that one three times."
"Yes I have but I love the magic, and adventure in it."
"Well if you enjoy it so much you can have it. No need to pay me either."
"Really?!? Thank you so much, Logan. I'll be back in a couple of days." She waves to him as he waves back. Then she leaves the little shop. She starts walking to her favorite spot in the village, the water fountain. She opens the book and starts reading. As she walks a figure comes next to her and taps her on the shoulder. She stops walking and looks at who it is.
"Hey, beautiful." She doesn't answer him but instead, she started walking again. "Come on your not going to answer me?" He said, "Well fine then." He grabs her book and moves his arm over his head.
She gets on her tippy toes, "GENE THATS MY BOOK GIVE IT BACK!" She tries jumping.
"Oh, well look you answered." He smirked. He put the book in front of his face and opened it, "What even is this?"
"It's a book." She crossed her arms, "Something you should consider reading."
He laughs, "Why would I need to read. That's the last thing I need to do." She grabs her book back as he gets lost in conversation with himself. She starts to walk in the direction of her house. "Hey, can I walk you home?"
"I can walk myself, thank you very much." He starts to walk home with her.
As they make it to the driveway Gene starts again, "Wow this is such a beautiful house for our 6 children."
"I would never have your children." She says as she walks up the steps with Gene behind her.
"What are you making me for dinner?"
"I'm not making you anything." She slammed the door right in his face and held it tightly shut.
"Alright then, Bye beautiful I'll see you later." He leaves. "She going to be mine." He whispered underneath his breath as Sasha and Zenix come behind him.
Aphmau looked out the peephole to make sure he was gone, before heading downstairs to see if her mother was down there. When she walked down enough stairs she seen her mother painting a picture of green meadows, a creek, and some red, yellow, pink, and purple flowers.
"Hi, momma."
"Oh hello, Hija didn't see you there." She turns her head and smiles.
Aphmau smiles, "So what are you painting?"
"A meadow I saw on my last trip, it just came back to my memory today, and I wasn't doing anything so I decide to paint it."
"Well, I love it." Aphmau smiles.
Aphmau then sits in a chair that was near.
"So Hija I have some good news and bad for you. Which would you like to hear first?"
"hmm, the good news please."
"Alright, so," she seemed to hesitate, "I was invited to an art convention."
"Mom t... that's amazing! What's the bad news then?"
"Well, it's another long trip."
"But you just got back from one."
"I know I know but we really need the money and no one in the village will buy my paintings. So maybe if I go to this convention people will actually buy my work."
"Mom if you want me to I'll stay home and watch the house while you're gone."
"I would really appreciate it."
Aphmau smiled a little, "So where this convention?"
"Falcon Claw."
"Thats going to be a long trip. When do you leave?"
"Well the convention starts in two days and it will take about a day and a half to make it there, so possibly tonight."
"Tonight?!? Well, we should start getting you packed."
Sylvanna laughs a little, "Alright just let me finish this last cloud."
