Ever since she was a kid Haseul never failed to wonder, do soulmates exist? She remembered how she ran up to her Mom after returning from school desperately looking for an answer. She had heard people talk about soulmates in her class.
Her Mom told her, "I don't know sweetie, they say everybody has one. Maybe you'll find your soulmate someday."
Haseul is just as confused now as she was when she was a kid. She somehow couldn't fathom what was true love?! Heck, she didn't even know what falling in love felt like.
Haseul woke up due to the constant ringing of her phone. She already knew who it was. Heejin. Her best friend who always found a way to annoy her by disturbing the Princess's peaceful sleep.
She picked up the call.
"Hello""Where are you? You were supposed to hang out with us, remember."
Haseul suddenly remembered her promise to Heejin that she would accompany her to the amusement park.
"Oh yeah. Sorry I forgot about it. But I'll be there soon."
"Okay. Hurry up. You know we will not hesitate to slip out your secret to everyone"
"DON'T YOU DARE. JEON HEEJIN."
Haseul was certainly not in a good mood even though she knew Heejin would never do that and she was probably just teasing her. It had not been so long since they met but Heejin always stood by her. Haseul was grateful for having such a good friend.
"HASEUL UNNIE"
It was her younger sister Yeojin. Although she was a small little kid her voice seemed like a speaker even when she was speaking normally."Stop shouting!! You pig!!"
"Okay. First of all, I am not a pig. You are. And second of all Mom is asking for you. You know we are normal beings who need food to survive and not just romance novels like you", said yeojin.
"YAH. Shut up. Tell Mom I'm coming."
After the breakfast was over. She quickly headed towards the amusement park. Although she was never fond of those rides, she agreed because Heejin was acting so cute. So she had to give in to her demands.
She reached the park a little late. Heejin was waving her arms in the air like an idiot. Haseul was quick enough to spot her and headed over to her.
"Finally you came. We've been waiting for you for so long"
"Yeah, sorry about that. Hey, Where's Hyunjin?"
Hyunjin. The tall, pretty and athletic girl who looks like a cat and loves bread. She also occasionally barks from time to time. She's a little weird. But anyway she is Heejin's girlfriend.
"You know her, right. She is in the nearby Bakery."
"Oh"
The two met in high school. Hyunjin was a quiet basketball player while Heejin was a popular girl. Despite being the complete opposites, they understood each other very well. They've been together for almost a year now.
"Hey there. How're you Haseul?" spoke a familiar voice. It was Hyunjin.
"Yeah. I'm good. What about you?"
"Never been better"
"I highly doubt that you invited us just so you can get a glimpse of that Bakery of yours"
"Hmm... You are not really wrong though."
They enjoyed themselves at the park. Only thing in Haseul's mind was that she felt alone. She almost felt like a third wheel though Heejin and Hyunjin would do anything to not have her feel this way.
That evening they waved each other goodbye and headed home. Haseul felt alone so she decided to stop by a Music Store. Like Hyunjin cured her sadness with Bread. Haseul did that with Music. She loved listening to music. It helped her release all her burden and emotions. So she started listening to her favourite song on her way to her favourite place. She didn't thought of buying anything. She just wanted to be there.
After a few minutes, she felt a tap on her shoulder. She looked around only to find a beautiful face staring at her. She was bright but felt cold at the same time. Her hair were coloured blonde. She was wearing a red flannel over her white t-shirt and shorts which exposed her slender and graceful legs.
Haseul never found herself staring at someone so vividly. This new girl spoke breaking the silence between them which lingered when they saw each other.
"Oh so that's why you couldn't hear me"
Haseul remembered she had been listening to music. She spoke in earnest.
"I'm so sorry. Did you say something?"
"Yeah. I wanted to ask you to help me with choosing a guitar out of the two I picked out."
Haseul did as she was asked to do. She was happy to help the mysterious girl out.
While leaving the store. The girl again came up to her and asked her for her number. It might seem weird but the younger girl didn't care. She then proceeded to introduced herself.
"I'm Kim Jungeun by the way"
"Jungeun.. Nice to meet you. I'm Jo Haseul."
They walked home together. It was a night to cherish.
How would this bloomimg relationship between Haseul and Jungeun unfold?! Moreover what was the secret Heejin was talking about?!Let us witness in the next chapter.
