CHAPTER 11

Clad in some form fitting workout gear consisting of a matching black tank tops and yoga pants. Tracy's had some neon purple trim while Carla's was trimmed with white.

"First, you need to focus your senses. We'll work on hearing first since I won't be able to give you instructions if you can't hear worth a damn." Carla said, "Now I'm going to that rock over there. That's about 200 feet away, twice the average human's ability to hear."

Running at an extremely fast rate she stood on the rock and turned, talking in a normal tone she asked, "Can you hear me?"

"Yup!" Tracy yelled.

"You really don't have to yell you know. You can talk normally."

"Sorry. Really? You can hear me that far away? It's so weird."

"Okay. I'm going to go even further, close your eyes and focus the sound of my voice."

"Okay." Tracy said closing her eyes. Focusing on her hearing, everything suddenly became so loud. She could hear two squirrels fighting in a tree, a bird tucking straw into its nest. With every sound brought an image to her brain. Then she heard a faint sound that was almost drowned out by a small gust of wind. She listened harder, tuning out all other sounds to focus on that one.

Can you hear me now?

Tracy grinned she could not only hear she could tell that Carla was about a quarter mile away.

"Sure can Verizon!" Tracy said loudly. The rapid tattoo of pattering feet came closer and Tracy opened her eyes to see Carla in front of her.

"Verizon?" Carla asked.

"Yeah from the old 'Can you hear me now?' commercials?"

"Humf. You're a dork," Carla grunted.

"I know." Tracy grinned, "I'm 'a-dork-able.'"

Carla half laughed half snorted, "Now we can work on smell."

Picking up the knapsack she brought, she handed Tracy a scarf, before walking away, "I have different scented candles and other stuff. I want you to tell me what you smell again you need to focus so put the blindfold on."

The light breeze picked up several scents and brought them to her nose. The prevailing scent of pepper caused her nose to run slightly.

"How am I going to smell anything if your pepper perfume is making my nose run?"

"Consider it a lesson of focus. Here's the first scent."

Tracy sniffed cautiously not wanting to inhale more pepper. "I smell something floral... but artificial? Is it a one of those lavender scented candles in the downstairs bathroom?"

"Yup. How about this?"

Tracy sniffed, "Smell like a vanilla candle."

"Yup."

Tracy heard rustling and a slight rattle noise provided a mental image of Carla's actions. She "saw" Carla take the lid off some sort of can and, "Coffee! Wow I didn't realize coffee was so strong."

"I think that some skunk sprays smells like coffee while others smell more like burnt rubber. Do you think that too? Or is it just me?"

"Well considering that your powers have just kicked in and that your more sensitive towards scents. Let's hope you never come across a skunk." Carla said as she rummaged through the bag again.

Tracy cringed, "Does the tomato bath thing really work?"

"I doubt it, especially with our sense of smell."
