Waking up to silence is pretty hard. Especially if you're used to laughter from the kitchen... pfft.... and that used to piss me off. (The sound of laughter in the morning, that is.)
I get in the shower and then climb out when I'm done. I dress in a black Fall Out Boy t-shirt with purple skinnies and purple converse. I don't bother to do anything with my hair but brush it. Then j find my ear buds and plug in Let's Start Today by Fall Out Boy.
Fall Out Boy... the band my mother introduced me to. I will never forget the look on her face when she handed me their second album, From Under the Cork Tree, saying, "You'll like it. You should, anyways. They're pretty good!" I did actually end up liking them.
I stare into the kitchen of the house I grew up in for the last time. I picture ny mother and father, smiling as I walked down the stairs and into the kitchen each year on my birthday.
Mom and dad aren't here. They never will be. Not anymore.
My dad decided to go crazy and kill my mom while I was at school, taking his life as well.
After a bit of researching my background, CPS had tracked down my closest relative... my half-brother.
Honk Honk!
I looked through the window to see the all too familiar black Cadillac.
I sucked in a breath as I walked out with my bags in tow.
The CPS worker, Julie, greeted me with a smile, "Hello, Jade, honey."
I grimaced. "Its Embers." I said flatly.
She nodded and took my bags, putting them in the trunk. "Right, sorry." She climbed into the drivers seat, and I in the back.
She drove me for like six straight hours to my older brothers house, but knowing my luck... it was longer.
When we pulled up at the house... or apartment... Julie got out and opened the door for me.
I followed her to an apartment and she knocked on the door.
My breath hitched as I saw who opened the door.
Andy Hurley... THE Andy Hurley!
"What are we doing here?" I asked, getting really nervous.
Andy opened the door fully. "Hello, Julie." He said.
"Hi, Andy... here's Jade." Julie stepped aside.
"I said it was Embers!" I snapped.
Andy chuckled. "You're my little sister, huh?"
I looked at him and froze, "You're kidding me, right?"
"No... did mom keep you sheltered or something?"
I shrugged, "Something like that. She refused to tell me who you were."
Andy nodded.
Julie smiled, "I'll go get your bags." She walked off.
Andy stepped aside to let me in. "So no one told you?"
I shook my head.
"Hmm..." He shut the door and lead me to the living room. "You can sit."
I did.
He chuckled, "Fall Out Boy shirt..."
I nodded.
"You had no clue... and yet you're still a fan."
I smiled and shrugged, "Mom made me listen to you guys."
Andy smiled, "The others should be around later."
