My alarm woke me up from my perfect slumber. I quickly threw my covers off of me and ran out of my room. My second oldest brother, Daxton ran in the upstairs bathroom before I could get out of my room. We had three bathrooms in my house. One upstairs, downstairs, and one-off my parents' room. The one-off my parents' room was strictly off-limits. It was on in between my third oldest brother Tucker, my twin brother Brooks, and me. We all raised down the steps. Pushing each other until we got to the bathroom.
Once we were there Brooks pushed Tucker who fell into me. Brooks laughed ran into the bathroom and slammed the door in Tucker and I's face. Tucker helped me off the floor. I pushed his hand away and walked back to the steps. "Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed" he yelled. Having older brothers you learn to ignore things. They may bother the hell out of you but you take a deep breath and walk away.
I walked back to my room in defeat. I would have to take my shower before I went to bed. I changed out of my PJs to dark blue boot cut jeans and one of my brother's old navy blue t-shirt. Being the youngest I had handy downs it didn't matter if I was a girl or not. Brooks and I used to argue when we were little on who was the oldest. He was only older than me by three minutes. We fought in the backyard one day during the afternoon to settle our fight. I think we were both ten at the time. Brooks won and bathed in glory. Until my mama found out what we did. We came into the house all dirty with holes in our jeans and blood on our faces. My mama yelled at us for 30 minutes straight saying how it was nothing to get rilled up about and set us to bed with no supper. But to this day he still thinks he's older than me. I brushed out my long wavy strawberry blonde hair and put it up in a ponytail. It was really the only thing with I did with my hair. I knew how to do a simple braid and straighten my hair but I rather just keep it simple. I didn't have any sisters to teach me how to do my hair and makeup so I almost never did. When I was ready I walked downstairs to get breakfast. My mama always home-cooked meals and they were always amazing. I could smell the food from the top of the steps.
I walked into the kitchen. My daddy sat at the kitchen table drinking coffee and reading the paper. My mama stood at the sink washing dishes. My brothers sat around the table already bickering. I stole a piece of bacon off of Daxton's plate and ate it. "Hey" he yelled. Tucker laughed and I smiled. I sat down next to Daxton where a plate of food was.
Daxton was the smartest one of us but he never used it for good. He was the most rebellious of the family. He is 19 and stays at the ranch to help my daddy. He has dirty blonde hair that he keeps short on the sides with a tiny bit of bangs that fell on his forehead. He has forest green eyes. He is about 6 foot one and with somewhat of a muscular build. He is know where near my oldest brother, Grant's, build.
Grant was off to the army a week after he graduated high school. He is the serious one of the family. Grant and I are really close. All my brothers and I are close but I was closest to him. Grant just turned 20 about a week ago. He has dark brown hair that was kind of like Daxton's but he doesn't have the bangs. His eyes are chocolate brown. He is 6 foot 4 he towers over almost everybody. He has the brightest smile that I haven't been able to see for a little more than a year. I miss him more every day.
Tucker is the prankster of the family. Always finding a way to either get us all to laugh or to get people to laugh at just one of us. He has red hair that he keeps at a buzz cut. He says it's too much to deal with. He is 18 in his senior year of high school. He is a little taller than Daxton. He has big round blue eyes always keep girls at his side but he's really not into them. He's more into having fun before he has to do adult things. Brooks walked out into the kitchen with wet hair and no shirt. "Mom I can't find a clean shirt" he wined.
"Check the laundry room." Mama told him. Before he went to the laundry room he stole a piece of bacon off my plate. I stood up.
"Brooks I swear I'll kill you."
"Brynn sit down," daddy said without looking away from his paper. Brooks smirked at me as he walked backward. I glared at him.
This was how Brooks and I usually were. He found a way to push my buttons all the time. Sometimes I think Brooks is bipolar. One minute he would be all happy the next he'd want to kill someone. He's always been this way ever since I could remember. My mama said it was because we are twins that we always fight. I think it's cause we're polar opposites. Brooks has wavy brown hair that he keeps kind of long. He looks like my daddy more than any of the kids. He has blue eyes like mine. Our eyes are the only things that make us look like twins. He is 5 foot 9. We are both 17. Even though he would say he's 18 because he's older than me. "Let's go so we're not late," Tucker said, "let's go Brooks." Tucker takes Brooks and I to school. Brooks and I don't have our own trucks yet so it's being in an only three seat truck for 30 minutes to get to school. We all rushed out of the house and into Tucker's truck.
"Bye kids." Mama yelled out the front door.
"Bye mama.." Brooks yelled back before getting in the truck. They make me sit in the middle since I'm the smallest.
On our way to school, we have to pick up Tucker's friend, Chris. Chris has a truck but it doesn't run so we take him. He lives about 2 miles down the road. Since the truck is only three seats. Brooks gets moved to the middle, Chris sits on the passenger side, and I sit on Chris's lap. Tucker and Chris have been friends since Elementary school. Chris has asked me out almost every day since my first year of high school and every time I say no. We flirt with each other but it won't go anywhere. My brothers don't care if I date him because we've known him forever. We pulled into Chris's driveway. He ran out of his house and into the truck. Before he went in the truck Brooks and I changed seats. "Morning baby girl," Chris said then kissed my cheek. He never forgets to do that every morning. I've learned to deal with his flirting. "Have you learned about that new kid in town?"
"There's a new kid here?" Tucker asked.
"Yeah he's from New York he was in a gang."
