How do i get a hold of them

I have one of my childhood friends number. they recently texted, but I have no way of getting a hold of them now because my mom and dad do not believe they got a hold of me. They said it wasn't "real and that it's impossible for them to find me" how do you try to message? Or can someone message for me? I don't know. I just realized I wanna contact them... yet I don't know how else other than I have there number. if someone can please help me contact them that would be great :) well out of people I know or followers
