Jasper returned to the beach with a wheelbarrow in tow, though she could easily lift the pink merperson she didn't want anyone to see them, hopefully the wheelbarrow would make the fellow townsfolk just think she had found some interesting items from the storm. However it wasn't going to be an easy task, merfolk are heavier than people, needing more body weight to protect them from cold waters, and she knew the wheel would sink into the sand; but she was up to the task.
Once again she kneeled besides the merperson, going to try to rouse them again. But she noticed the palm leaves where gone. However the merperson themselves hadn't shifted from their position, maybe they woke up only to pass back out? She gently put her hand on their shoulder again, only for them to flash open their eyes, growl, and sink their sharp teeth into her hand! Jasper yelped out in pain and recoiled her hand quickly, and grabbed it with her opposite hand in an attempt to stop the bleeding. "Hey! I'm trying to help you!" She said, or rather yelled, the pain amplifying her voice.
This only caused the merperson to shift away from her, furrowing their brows and scowling at her, baring their teeth. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you" Despite the pain Jasper managed to lower her voice to a softer tone, she had felt much worse after all. "I'm just trying to help you, okay?" She spoke slowly, not sure if merfolk could understand human speech at all.
"I.. don't need your help! Just leave me alone!" They yelled out, then attempted to move themselves back towards the sea, only to double over in pain and grab at their ribs, where their biggest injury was, a deep cut, one could say even a gouge.
"See? You need help..."
"Fine... You seem nice enough I guess. Most humans would attack first and ask questions later... But there's other humans, right?" A worried, unsure look appeared on their face."Don't worry, I have a plan." Jasper gestured to the wheelbarrow she bought with a smile.
