"Mama"
Sam wakes up from a dead sleep and sits up and looks at the baby monitor, then she nudges her finaceé and says, "Jay, wake up. Did you hear that?"
Jay squirms around and says, "hear what?"
"It sounded like Gracie said something"
"I think you're hearing things, baby. Go back to sleep"
Sam gets up from the bed and puts on her robe and walks to her daughters room and over to her crib, where she is standing straight up, and says, "mama"
"Oh, my god. Oh my god, baby" Sam smiles, picking up Gracie from her crib, "you just said your first word"
"Daddy"
"Oh my god, that's your second word" Sam smiles, then races back to hers and Jay room and sits down, setting Gracie in between her and Jay, then nudges him to wake up, "Jay, she just said her first two words, wake up!"
Jay sits up on the bed and says, "I'm up, I'm up!"
"She just said mama and daddy"
"Really?"
"Yes. I swear. Come on baby. Say mama, daddy"
Gracie looks at her mother confused and then crawls over to sit on Jays lap and rests her head on his chest as he wraps his arms around her in a hug.
"Sam, if she's been saying her first words, why isn't she saying them now?"
"I don't know, but I'm telling you, she said them"
Jay looks down at his 1 year old, who looks up at him with her innocent hazel eyes and says, "can you say mama and daddy?" and Gracie just shakes her head no, "see"
"Jay, she's playing us"
"Sam, she's one"
"And spoiled. She's putting us against each other"
Jay chuckles and gets up from the bed with Gracie in his arms, "I'm gonna go put her in her crib and when I come back-" but before Jay could finish, Gracie starts crying, "what's wrong, baby? You want to sleep with us tonight?" Which makes the girl stop crying, "maybe she's a little spoiled" then Jay brings Gracie back over to the bed and lays her in between them and then kisses her forehead, "night babygirl"
