" Welcome to the academy!"
A round man in a suit and an overly tall top hat smiled. His white beard blended into the grey of his suit, the wrinkles around his eyes showing kindness.Hundreds of teens stood in the room, its glass walls seemingly holding the galaxy within them. You definitely couldn't see out of them, but would anyone really want to look away from the beautiful space?
No matter how beautiful it was, I was terrified.
My eyes scanned for Alex, but she wasn't there. I was alone, again." I'm sure you're all quite startled, but don't worry. Even the regular students get dazed by the entrance!" The old man chuckled.
" You are separated from the students who have already been here, and so everyone around you is either a transfer or a new student!" That explained why Alex wasn't here, at least.
" That said, in your time here at Wellston Academy, you will follow a set of rules." His chubby figure turned, shoes clicking against the marble floors as he approached the edge of the stage.
" The head student of your grade will be responsible for introducing you to the school grounds and activities. They also, however, report behavior and disturbances."
A sudden grimace washed over the man's face, his eyes switching back and forth in dilation.
" You- ah, excuse me- your head supervisor seems to wish to speak with you all. " He mumbled before slumping, eyes staring at the ground. It didn't last long before he stood straight again, too straight. His stance completely changed, a stiff posture and stern look upon his face. He seemed confused, but even through the confusion his features had hardened.
" Thank you, Head Master." He cleared his throat.
His voice no longer held that soft kindness. A deeper, more gruff version echoed through the room.
" I am your Head Supervisor, please refer to me as Mr. Creeks. I would like to tell you all that nonsense is not tolerated within our walls, and if caught, you will be faced with suspension- or expulsion." Mr.Creeks snapped.
That definitely wasn't the kind man who stood there before. I glanced around the room and met the eyes of a short skinny boy with curly blonde hair and bright blue eyes. As soon as we made eye contact he blushed and whipped his head around conspicuously.
" Your Head Master cannot front at the moment, and so I will excuse you. You are students of Wellston now, and you determine how we are seen. Do not sully our image. Exit from the door to the right of the bleachers. Your head of grade will be with you shortly."
He can't 'front'? What does that mean?
I wasn't going to figure anything out by myself, and so I looked for the boy who had been staring at me. Once I spotted him, I scrambled to his side." Excuse me? Are you familiar with this school?" My hand fell on his shoulder. He jumped.
" W-what? Uh, yes, I mean a little. I've read about it for months now." He stuttered, a book close to his chest. It's bright red cover surrounded the bold gold text ' Wellston Academy: Volume X' .
" Wow, ten of them?" I muttered. His embarrassed blush only grew.
" Not that it's a bad thing, sorry. I'm just a bit confused about everything. " I scratched the back of my head.
