In My Dreams

Chapter 20

Lena's POV

For once my dreams havent come true. Months have passed and everything has seemed peaceful. It was that reason that it scared me even more. Kara was sleeping peacefully next to me and I stared up at the ceiling of our bedroom. I was afraid to dream. Afraid that it would only be another nightmare.

"You worry too much Lee" Kara murmured.

"I didnt know you were awake" I whispered back.

"I could practically feel you trembling. What's wrong?" She propped her head up on her hand and used the other to drag her fingers up my side.

"I'm just afraid I'll have another nightmare. I know they probably wont come true but I still hate seeing something bad happen to you."

Kara leaned forward and gave me a soft kiss. Her hand that was caressing my sides now wrapped around my waist to pull me closer. My own hand made it's way to her neck and I used my thumb to gently rub her cheek. When we finally pulled away a lone tear slipped down my cheek.

"If you dwell on the nightmares, then nightmares you shall have. If you let them go and think of the good, then happy dreams will come true" she smiled.

"You're such a sap" I whispered. I pulled her into another kiss and snuggled into her.

My hand made it's way beneath her shirt and I traced shapes on her back. Kara held me securely and kissed the top of my head.

"Dream good dreams" she said sleepily.

I wanted to have good dreams. So I pushed all of the bad thoughts that haunted me into little boxes in my mind and instead focused on the feeling of my wife around me.

"Katie! Have you seen the car keys?" Someone called. Their voice sounded like my Kara's but I was confused the name she was calling.

She emerged from a hallway of the house we were in, trying to put her earring on. She had a different haircut with bangs but I could recognize my love from a galaxy away.

"Are you ok honey? You look like you've seen a ghost" she laughed. Music to my ears....

"I just spaced I guess" I said breathlessly.

"Ok. I'll go get Lara. Bethany said that she will be over later today so I was thinking spaghetti for dinner?" She smiled. I had no idea who she was talking about but I nodded anyway.

I saw that there were pictures in the hallway and decided to take a look. There were various pictures of Kara and I but they were different. I wasnt in my business attire and Kara didnt look like herself either. We both wore casual clothes that looked very relaxed. I simple and normal looking family that didnt have a murderous family and exploding-planet background.

One picture caught my eye. I was in a hospital bed and Kara was laying next to me with the brightest smile I had seen yet. In my arms was a baby wrapped in a pink blanket. Before I could have another thought I heard little foot steps behind me.

"Mommy!" A young girl cried. She lept up and into my arms and I instinctively caught her. "Mama says that Bethany is coming today. Can I help with 'paghetti?"

I was mind struck for a moment before smiling.

"Sure" I murmured. She squealed in delight and wiggled out of my arms. I set her down and watched her run to the other room.

"Ready to start filming?" Kara said coming back.

"Filming?" I said confused.

"The fifth season of Supergirl? They said that Lara might make an appearance this season later on. Isnt that amazing?" She smiled.
