She couldn't write happy endings

Because she didn't believe in them

Instead, she took her inspiration from the stories

In which the dragons ate princesses

And the knights were left to drink away their sorrows

She couldn't write happy endings

Because she was in love with the pain

Sadness was her drug

And she had no intentions of giving it up

She wanted to write herself a happy ending

A fairy tale ending where he still loved her

And they lived happily ever after

But she couldn't

Because she didn't think she deserved one

A.N. - This is probably one of my worse poems, but I couldn't figure out how to make it feel right.
