Jake's POV
I could not believe what I saw, it was disgusting and I had to stop breathing for a moment, my heightened werewolf senses where spinning out of control, the clearing was literate with body's. Male and female alike but so disturbingly torn apart you couldn't tell for sure, arms flung over tree limbs and heads decapitated,
the worst was the guts, strung a long the ground, I snarled at the disgusting site, werewolves had done this, it wasn't humans on the ground though, I was thankful for that. It was vampires, and werewolves, the local pack must have had a fight with the Local vampires, it was still so disturbing, a whisper brought me back from.
My thoughts, my eyes we drawn to a tree near the other side of the clearing, a girl, a human girl, was sitting on the ground, her hands were covering her face and as I watched her for a moment i realized she was shaking, risking a breath I breathed in putrid air and then a tantalizing sent reached my nose, of fresh moss and wildflowers mixed with a hint of vanilla, it was so familiar and it took.
Me a moment t realize where I'd smelled it, at school, in. Two of my classes and in the hall, who was she? I gingerly picked my way around the severed limbs, and body parts trying not to look at them and unconsciously flexing my stomach so I didnt hurl. Moving closer to her I saw she had dark auburn hair, it was long and fell about her bent face and do the ground, she was tanned but not as much as me, more just a tinted skin ton then anything, she was slim and her build seemed fragile.
When I got close to her I realized I was still in wolf form, quickly darting behind a tree before she could see me I changed back into human form and after some looking, found a clothes stash, I slipped on some jeans and a tank top not bothering with anything else, I skunk back to the clearing still avoiding looking directly at the body's and turned to see the girl was gone, I panicked, she had seen the body's,
what if she went and told someone? What if one of the wolves of vampire had come back to clean up the body's and found her? A midnight snack?? I picked up her scent and ran following it. I almost missed her, she was silent and she was wearing dark clothes and standing not far from the clearing, I slowed down and halted to watch her stagger slightly then gain her balance, she was shaking so badly and her face was deathly pale, I told myself it didn't matter she was just a human and of course she was shaken up, but my wolf wanted me to go to her, comfort her,
I refused, I had an image to uphold, I walked to her and I must have made some noise because she looked up startled, her eyes met mine and I almost stopped breathing, almost, she has the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen, dark green with a silver ring around the outer edge, against her dark hair it was startlingly lovely, I mentally shook myself and plastered a grim look on my face, raining steadiness I barked "what then hell are you doing here!? This is grogers land, you should not be here" her eyes opened a out wider then they already where and stared at me but I got the funny feeling she didn't see me.
"I-I got lost... I'm.. sorry" she stuttered and dropped her eyes, I felt awful for scaring her especially after what she saw but I needed to keep up the attitude, scare her into thinking she didn't see anything and if she did it was shut up or risk the consequence, "get off, this land, this is private property, what's your name and where do you live? I'll take you back"
She closed her eyes for some moment and I watched as she stopped shaking, when she opened her eyes again she kept them on the ground, her voice taking on a dull ton as she said quietly, "Diana, I live on. The outskirts of Newtown, Near the baseball court" I sighed heavily running my fingers through my hair "damn, long way from home, how'd you get all the way out here?" I waited for her reply but when non came I moved closer to tap her shoulder, she jerked away from me so fast I fell back, I caught myself and straightened angry "what the hell??" I growled and grabbed her wrist as she tried to run,
Her foot came out of no we're and slammed into my side, I take back what I thought, she was so not fragile, her kick winded me and I involuntarily let go of her wrist, she jerked as a and ran, I had all manner of courses under my breath ready to be used but they fled my thoughts the moment I heard it, a hotel, long and hungry, they had come back for the body's, and must have picked up her scent like I had she, but now, she was their next hunt. I swore and bolted after her, changing into my large wolf as I went. The only thing racing through my mind was I needed to protect her, I needed to, at all costs, my wolf took over completely then and the last thought I had before he enveloped my thoughts was.
This was not, going to end well
