About a week had passed and the streets were still whispering but things were winding down, Kat stayed in the house.

Koo would come and leave just as fast so she barely got to see him.

De'Angelo had given him a Jeep before he went missing leaving the keys with a note in the mailbox, it was supposed to be his gift for his 18th birthday but I guess he felt appropriate to give it to him early maybe to ease some guilt.

Kat hadn't spoken to him or Koo since.

Kat was in the Kitchen making her a drink when she heard the door open. In the door way stood De'Angelo.

Her heart fluttered. The site of him always gave her butterflies even after all these years.

"What the fuck are you doing here!? You think you can just come in here after ignoring me for a week and walk the fuck up in here!? GET OUT!" he continued to walk in.

"De'Angelo! Did you not hear me!?"

he came closer and she threw her glass at his head, his moved his head swiftly to the side the glass barely missing him.

His eyes enlarged.

Kat tried to take off running

De'Angelo caught up with her from behind grabbing her waist. She broke down

"let me fucking go man, fuck you!"

"Shhhh" he kept repeating holding her tight.

When she finally stopped fighting

he scooped her up and took her to bed.

He lay there holding her quietly.

She finally spoke.

"So where you been?"

"Had to get out of town "

"with Chanel?"

he sighed then there was an awkward silence

"yeah, she thought it'd be a good idea."

Kat shook her head and flared her nostrils.

"Deon" he beckoned her softly "I asked her for a divorce"

Kat whipped around toward him.

"What?"

he just nodded

"why?"

"You fucking know why man, you've always known why. We're hurting too many people in the process of you trying to protect yourself from nothing."

"I don't want this De'Angelo."

"Then what have we been doing for the last 27 years."

"Surviving." De'Angelo turned Kats face toward him and planted soft kisses around her mouth then finally against her lips. He knew that shit turned her on. He put her hand behind his head stroking the nape of his neck.

He rolled on top of her, she was on fire.

She hadn't been touched in a while.

Koo had just left half an hour ago so she knew he wouldn't be back for a while but De'Angelo asking took her by surprise.

"Where's my son?" he asked breathy.

She knew he said it but she was still processing it.

It was weird to actually hear it aloud.

She just stared at him shocked.

"He's gone...." She finally got out

"he's never home thanks to you and that damn jeep."
