I look up from my books it's almost 4am, another hour of studying lies ahead. I can't help but think of how quickly this year went past. It's almost the end of the year; I can't wait for these everlasting exams to be over! And as soon as the summer hits its parties all night and all day. That's if my parents aren't too protective to let me go as they always are but I can't blame them, I always seem to find some way to disappoint them when they give me some space. Like last time when I didn't answer my phone for at least 5 hours and they came searching for my at the party, they could at least have sent my brother instead of coming in themselves it would have been l awkward and I wouldn't have been teased because of over protective parents

"Ellechar time to get up!" I hear my mom standing outside my door waiting for some sign that that I'm getting up

"Well that hour went fast." I silently sigh to myself. I pull my books into a bag; I neatly lay out my clothes and hop into the shower. As soon as I'm dressed I head downstairs. As usual I'm late, my brother my sister and my parents are sitting at the table eating their boring breakfast. Why does everybody have to be so perfect?

"morning." I greet everybody at once but as usual only my mother replies

"Good morning I hope you slept well?"

"yea." I reply "will Seth be able to give me a ride to school today?" I look at my blond haired brother and hope that he says yes

"I'm sure he would agree, But Ellechar I've told you before, to plan your days carefully and you should have asked earlier." My mother replies. My brother just gives a small nod as if he doesn't have another choice.

"Great thanks." I mumble to my brother and he nods once again. "and sorry mom." I nod in my mom's way. I'm getting tired of all my brother's nods so I grab an apple from the table and go stand outside to wait for my brother. After what seems like forever he comes out of the house and gestures for me to get into the car

"Come on we're late!" he yells

"I wonder whose fault is that." I ask more to myself than to him. He gives me a glare and flicks me off after he sees his "friends" driving past us and he probably doesn't want to look lame talking to his 15 year old sister, but I don't see his problem being too shy if he spends almost every second of every day with them, I mean he barely comes home he's not supposed to be ashamed of me. Sometimes I just don't get him... the car ride went slow with my brother's music blasting on full volume through the speakers "will you be able to give me a lift home after school?" I try to sound over the music, once again he nods, I would call him out on it but I don't want to lose my lift home so I decide to keep quiet ,and as soon as we park I hop out of the car and run for the school doors. The day flies by and before I know it I'm standing in the parking lot waiting for my brother to pick me up, after at least 2 hours of waiting I phone my brother after I got his voicemail three times I decide to walk, as soon as I get home the door is open.

"Hello...Mom?" I hear my voice echo down the hall they probably took my sister somewhere. I need to get ready for my party, just as I was about to get in the shower my brother calls

"Hello?" I answer the phone "where were you today? You were supposed to pick me up today remember?"

"Uhm. Yeah Mom and dad never got home after dropping Annilize off and they weren't answering so I went to find them, are they home yet?"

"No, but I got home safely if you were concerned about me too." I reply "it's not like you to be this over protective? But anyway tell me when you find them." I put the phone down before he can reply just so that he knows how mad I am I put my phone down on my cupboard and walk to the bathroom.

After my shower there was still no answer but just as I was about to phone him he walks through the door. He shakes his head and says "it's really unlike them not to answer."

"I know." After a while of silence I decide to break it "I think I'm going to stay home tonight, I don't feel like going to the party anymore." I say hoping he doesn't force me to go like he usually would

"You sure?"

"Yeah I mean if that's ok?"

"Why wouldn't it be?" he looks at me and I shrug. I knew he had plans to go out with his fancy friends, after all he has been at their house for at least half of the year and my parents were fine with it because his friends all stay with my uncle... which I never understand, why, because there are at least 12 guys which stays there and like 2 girls so I guess he felt better being around an imperfect "family", my mom always says that a perfect family is a happy family. I sigh and sit on the couch "want to watch a movie?" I nod, and he rolls his eyes, probably because I stole his move. After watching about three movies and phoning my parents and my sister about five times we decided to give up, "are you really that worried?" I ask breaking the silence "yea, I guess but it's not like them to leave and not at least call or something, I mean they could at least have used a payphone to try and contact us if their phones were dead or something but I, kind of hope that they come home soon, because I haven't spent a lot of time with them this year and I was hoping that we could all chill together tonight." AS soon as he finishes his sentence there's a knock on the door, my parents would never ever knock they always just barge in and start talking to the first person they see, we glare at each other for a few seconds until the knock comes again and my brother gets up to open it and I follow hastily after.

He opens the door. The first thing that comes into view is a tall blond man in a blue police uniform. He looks at us and says "may I speak with the eldest in private please." I look at my brother, "stay here." He instructs, I nod and then he nods in return and follows the man....
