The room was dark, lit only by a few candles which were placed strategically on the stone walls. The coven was aware the princess woke up. Just like they knew she will lead them. Lead them to greatness, lead them to glory, lead them...
As she walked in they all turned their attention to her, once again they were awed by her beauty. The Egyptians were accurate to give her the name Nefertiti, which means 'the beautiful one has come'. Although she's had many names, she likes that one the most. She was simple in her plain white dress, but beautiful none the less.
"Are you well rested my lady?" One of them asked.
She fixed her dazzlingly beautiful eyes on him. "Yes." She looked around the room. "Upon my awakening I have come up with a plan." She took a dramatic pause to study the covens reaction. They waited in patience, but were anxious to know. "I have decided to go to a place where they converge the most. Where they talk about their strengths and weaknesses. What they like or don't like. By doing this I will know a better way to take advantage of them and overthrow the humans who have been in power to long. My subjects," she said addressing everyone in the coven with a smile "I'm going to school."
When she announced it to her coven they all were shocked. 'Are you sure my lady?' 'The humans are ruthless as adolescents.' 'You must be careful princess.'
"I know. Now I'd like to refine every angle of my plan, so if you should need me I'll be in my chambers."
"Why cant they understand?" She said out loud to herself once she went back to her rooms. The walls were yellow with age, yet it didn't make the place look grungy. She had what people would call 'priceless artifacts from the past' all through her room from her many travels around the world. She had trunks filled to the brim with treasure from Atlantis, before it sank, sculptures from Egypt, a drawing of the Buda from the year he died. Everything in her room spoke of secrets and age and that was just the way she liked it. Looking around her timeless room calmed her.
What was she thinking? Of course they wouldn't understand the importance of studying them. 'And the boy?' she asked herself. 'Not a part of it. But if the coven were to find out about him?...'
She thought about that for a while before deciding they would never know, how would they find out anyway? It wasn't like he was her lover. She wouldn't be seeing him and risking her life- her covens' life. ' Is it that simple? What if became more? she asked herself. 'But it wont. I won't let it.' She decided. 'But is it really that easy?'
'That doesn't matter now.' she told herself. 'If I'm going to go to school I shall need to fit in. I'll need to go shopping, but how will I buy anything? I'm sure the economy has a different trade value then when I was last awake.' She look out a parchment and doodled on a corner of it with something the coven got her called a 'pencil'. It's supposed to be a modern writing utensil, yet it's much like the charcoal she once used. The only difference was it was wrapped in wood.
She decided to let James handle how she would get those green papers people were passing around in the markets she visited. Then she would get the best clothes that the paper would buy. She would tolerate nothing but the best, as per usual.
.....
As she walked to school- because she was a pure-blood she could be out in the sunlight- she noticed everyone was staring at her. At first she thought she was dressed wrong in the itchy clothes that everyone wore, but then as she looked into the eyes of men- and even some women- she saw desire, awe, lust. It was just as it always was, so she relaxed.
When she walked through the gates of Nari Cutasori High she had the same reaction. The boys' jaw dropped, the girls either glared or looked longer than what made her comfortable, and the teachers looked like they would love to officially meet her.
The school itself was charming, little tables and benches positioned just so. The bushes and cherry trees made up the greenery, and there were many buildings that were neatly decorated. The gates in the front were made of iron, and was shaped into little tendril swirls. All in all it looked like a picture out of a book.
She walked to the office and after much prodding got the secretary to stop gaping at her and get her schedule. She started walking down the hall to History, shy and uncertain. When she opened the door class was already in session. She blushed and moved inside quickly.
The teacher was a middle aged man. He was cute with his green eyes and black hair.
"Wait just a second miss Ray." the teacher said as she started making her way to an open seat in the middle. "Everyone this is Serenity Ray, and she's the new student. I expect everyone to make her feel welcome."
"With that beauty I'll welcome you to anything you want." A guy said from the back. All the boys muttered agreement, and all the girls looked at her with spite.
"I don't think she's really all that much." A blonde girl with brown eyes said. She was chewing bubble gum and it was clear to Serenity that she was the leader here.
'I'll have to overthrow her first, and make her nothing.' Serenity thought to herself. Instead of saying anything back Serenity gave a dazzling smile to the class, and it took their breath away, even the preppy blonde.
"That's enough class." the teacher said. "Serenity you can call me Mr. J. Why don't you take a seat?" he asked, still wanting to look at her, but he knew his obligation was to teach. Even if most of the people didn't want to learn.
As she was about to sit down she looked over her shoulder and saw the boy. The one from the alley. He looked just as shocked as she felt. Not wanting to look weak or surprised she gave him a small smile and sat down.
