~Seraphina's POV~

I felt a kick on the back of my chair as I sat in my eighth period class, which was Calculus, and I flinched slightly in surprise. Still, I tried to ignore it, sitting up straighter in my seat as I tried to pay attention to Mrs. Janson.

But not even a minute later, I felt yet another hard kick to the back of my chair. I huffed and turned my head back, meeting Lorenzo's gaze as his steely gray eyes peered at me. His pink lips twitched up into a little smirk. "Got a pencil, kitten?" He teased, leaning over the table more. I blushed a little at his nickname and nodded my head, grabbing my backpack and digging around for a pencil to give him. As I handed him the pencil, he snatched it and began writing on his paper with the pencil that I already knew I wasn't going to be getting back. That was why I hadn't given him one of my mechanical pencils.

Lorenzo and I were best friends but nothing more, even though I had been crushing on him for three years out of our six year friendship. He was just so charming, I couldn't help but to crush on him. It certainly didn't hurt that he was pretty attractive, as well. Much more than I was, in my opinion. It was no wonder he didn't reciprocate my feelings.

He was tall and muscular with a practically perfect body while I was only five foot two and had a curvy figure. My arms were short and I had big hips, big thighs, big breasts. Big everything. I couldn't compare with the other girls he could have. He had steel gray eyes while mine were a simple brown, making even his eyes prettier than mine.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't think I was ugly. I just didn't think I was pretty enough for someone as handsome as Enzo. My jaw was sharp and defined, though my cheeks were slightly chubby. I had full lips that I actually quite liked, even if my upper lip was just a bit smaller than my lower, and a button nose. My dark brown brows were arched and plucked perfectly to suit my face. I had dyed my hair to be ombré, with my natural dark brown roots going down to a lighter brown that I thought suited me.

However, Lorenzo was much more attractive than I. He had dark black hair that always seemed to messily styled on his head, as if he didn't style it at all. I knew he did, though. His gray eyes were framed by dark, long lashes and he had plump, pink lips and skin a little paler than my tan skin. When we stood beside one another, he towered over me at around six feet tall, his arms so buff that I couldn't even get one hand halfway around his bicep. He was a big guy, to say the least.

I looked over at Mrs. Janson again, trying my best to listen to her as I heard the soft scribbling of pencil on paper from students around me. The worksheet that she had given us all to do today had already been completed by me, since math was one my strong suits in school. It always had been, for some reason. Even so, I couldn't help but to be thrilled when the bell rang at the end of the class, dismissing us all to leave and go home. I liked math, but I liked going back to the comfort of my own home even more.

While everyone else got up and ran their way out of the class in a hurry, pushing and shoving at one another to get out, I took my time to put my things away. I glanced up at Enzo when he leaned against the side of my desk, waiting patiently for me to finish so that we could leave. Because Enzo lived next door to me, he and I often went to and from school together, usually everyday. It just made more sense to do that. I didn't have a car, though, so we always ended up having to go in his. Not that I minded it or anything. He had a pretty nice corvette that was dark green. I loved when he'd drive fast with the windows down.

Zipping my backpack closed, I stood up and swung my bag over my shoulder, my heart fluttering when Enzo grabbed my hand. "You take your sweet time." He teased, a smile lifting onto his lips as he tugged me out of the classroom. "Well, I'm not about to get myself stuck in a crowd of shoving people." I said, blushing slightly. He shook his head, leading me out of the school and over to his impeccably clean corvette. The car chirped as he unlocked it, a small wave of disappointment overcoming me when he released his grip on my hand to walk over to his side. I got into the passenger's seat, rolling my window down as he started up the engine and we both buckled our seatbelts. Like he knew I liked, he rolled down his window too and then turned the music on, letting the hard beat practically rattle the car.

We began driving and I grinned as I put my face right up close to the open window, not daring to stick my head out in fear of getting hit in the face with a bug. That had happened once and I never stuck my head out the window again.

The intense wind blew my long hair around wildly but I didn't care, squeezing my eyes shut so my eyes wouldn't water and ruin my makeup. I could feel the intense thumping of the beat in my entire body and a laugh tore out of my throat, sticking one hand out the window to feel the cool air on my skin more. I heard Enzo faintly chuckle as he drove, still not growing tired of seeing me do this even after all the times I did this. "You're such a weirdo." He muttered, his voice hardly audible over the loud music and the whipping of the wind. All I did was laugh some more.

However, my laughter faded and a pout formed on my face when he slowed down and pulled into his driveway, ending my fun. "I wish our drive was longer." I pouted, turning off the radio before he removed the key from the engine.

Enzo and I got out of his car, shutting the doors lightly before he locked the car. He ran a hand through his already messy hair and I practically gawked at him, holding my backpack straps tighter. He was so handsome. "I'll see you tomorrow morning, yeah, Phina?" He smiled, peering down at me. Nodding my head, I watched him head inside of his house, waving him goodbye as he turned to me when closing the front door. I turned and skittered over to my house when he was out of sight, using my house key to let myself inside.

Immediately, my fluffy white dog named Chester came scrambling down the stairs to greet me, wildly wagging his little tail. He was a Maltese, so he was pretty small. I'd had him for two years now and I absolutely adored him. We even slept in my bed together.

I beamed as he came jumping up on my legs while I locked my front door, giggling as he excitedly scratched at my thighs. "Hi, my pretty boy." I smiled, sitting down beside him on my knees. Chester immediately jumped up into my lap, attacking my hands, arms, and neck with licks. I didn't let him get my face, though. I was wearing makeup, and I knew it wouldn't taste too nice. He barked at me excitedly and jumped off of my lap, running around me in circles and rubbing his soft fur against my sides. Suddenly, I heard the sound of a light chuckle from behind me, causing me to look up in confusion. As far as I knew, my mom was still at work, so I knew it wasn't her.

However, I wasn't expecting to my older sister standing there with a smile on her face.

"Carmen?" I asked, surprised. I stood up, eyeing her with curiosity. "What are you doing here?" I asked, lost. She'd been off at college in Florida for the better part of four years, visiting whenever she had the chance to during holidays or the summer. However, now that she had graduated, I hadn't heard anything of her coming back home. I guess mom and Carmen just didn't think to tell me, which is fine. I missed my sister, so it wasn't like I minded at all. It was just a surprise to see her here.

She gave me a big smile and ran over, wrapping me in a hug. "Well, I've missed you, too." She grinned, my cheek pressing against her shoulder. She was just a bit taller than I was, being that she was five foot six. I was the shortest in the house, unfortunately.

Even though she was taller, Carmen was much thinner than me, her tiny frame practically hidden by mine as we hugged. She had very narrow hips and thin legs with a tiny waist, the exact opposite of me. There were some days where I wished I had a body like hers, just for the sake of being skinny, but I tried not to dwell on things like that. Comparing is never good to do to yourself. "I missed you, too." I said with a happy smile, peering up at her. "You got a haircut." I noticed, as her dark brown hair now fell to her shoulders. It used to be down her back, shorter than mine. We might've been sisters, but the only similarity we had besides our natural hair was our eye color. As of now, just our eye color, being that my hair was dyed.

"I did!" She giggled, flipping her hair back. "Do you like it?" She asked, a happy look on her face. I'd never seen her so happy. I loved it. "Yes! It suits you." I grinned, her happy mood infectious.

Carmen pushed a strand of her hair behind her ear and stepped away, putting some distance between us. "So, you're probably wondering why I'm here. I know I didn't warn you or anything." She mentioned, to which I nodded in agreement. I most certainly was wondering that. She bit her lip softly and I noticed her fingers intertwine, beginning to anxiously wring them. It was a nervous habit she'd had for years. "I'm moving back in until I can find a job." She said, causing me to beam.

But then, she added, "And my boyfriend is moving in with us, too."
