Chapter 2 ~ Dinner with the Family and Robins

~ Thank you to Celeste, my cousin for helping me out this chapter. You will most likely see me saying thank you to her in some chapters and other stories.

Recap - Evangeline the main character comes home with a baby in her arms. Suddenly Simon becomes sick. As she is walking down town shouting she would sell herself to have Simon get better a man grabs her and she screams. He bought her life. Now she is in the man's house who is the notorious Colt Quinton her sister's face appears in photos. Suddenly her sister is behind her in Colt's house.

"Eve, what are you doing here ?" asked my sister. She was wearing a beautiful white dress that draped down her legs. Her make up was done pefectly and her hair was straightened to the max.

"I live here now. I'm getting married to Colt soon ..... '' I quietly said, fiddling with my fingers.

"Oh, I didn't know you were having a relationship. When were you going to tell me that ?"

"Uhm, soon soon. We just, you know, wanna tell everyone later as a surprise," I put my hands in the air, "Surprise !"

"Let's go shall we ? I'll tell you what I'm doing here."

As we were walking Rose's story ended up like this: She also had the same surprise as Colt and me did. Rose is getting engaged to the Robin Wood Company's CEO, Heath Robin. I wasn't surprise. She came home at 3 once and smelled like party and roses.

We both held our secrets. When we came down the stairs when Colt was talking to someone.

It must've been Heath Robins, my new brother-in-law. Heath looked charming, ravishing and very handsome. Although, I do not trust him at all. There's something about him that makes me feel uneasy.

"Evangeline ! Your here. That's great. I want you to meet my best friend. Heath Robins. I hope you two will feet along well." said Colt.

Heath held out his hands and grinned, "It's nice to meet you Ms. Evangeline."

I shook it awkwardly as Rose was standing behind me smiling. "So you've met my fiancée already ?" asked Heath.

"No, she's my little sister Heath dear." said Rose.

Heath was taken aback and his smile turned into a frown. Before anyone could notice his face was smiling again. I don't trust him at all. But this is the way it has to be. As long as Rose is happy I'm okay.

Colt was awkwardly standing next to me waiting for the introduction to finish. I turned to him and smiled. Shocked, he turned his face away and a second later he was smiling back at me.

Colt wrapped his arm around my waist pulling me towards the dining room. A feast was prepared. People were around the table sitting talking the night away.

Butlers and maids were running in and out of the rooms carrying trays of tea and food. In the middle lay a bouquet of roses and a small box.

The table held cookies, macaroons, pasta, tiramisu, cheese cake, turkey, sugar plums, fruit bowls, pavlova, medium rare steak, and other dishes to be named.

A menacing looking couple stood at the end of the table. They had their hands folded and their eyes staring straight at Colt. It must've been his parents. They do look a lot like him.

The woman, was wearing a dark, green dress with pearl necklaces and earrings. Her hair was short and curled.

The man, was in a dead, black suit and a dark green tie that matched his wife's. Colt walked towards them and greeted them with a stern look. He motioned for me to walk over and my feet carried me across the room.

When I was next to Colt the woman smiled and held out her hand, "I'm Marianne Quinton and my husband here is Charles Quinton."

I shook their hands and introduced myself, "Nice to meet you, I'm Evangeline Hope."

Marianne and Charles looked at each other and their eyes widened. Marianne looked at me and smiled again. She explained that her husband could not speak. So during their meetings she was to assist him every step of the way.

Although she looked threatening at first she seemed like a very nice woman. Her stern and menacing face and aurora just made her scary. Her husband seemed less scary with the fact that he couldn't talk.

Colt clapped his hands and asked for the butler to bring forth the small box. Everyone was watching as the navy, blue box was being carried.

The butler bowed and handed the box to Colt and left. Colt got down on one knee and opened the box, "Evangeline Rosetta Hope, my most dearest partner and friend. The only girl I will ask to take care of me, to cook for me, and to walk side by side with me. The girl that made my heart race and leap for utter joy. Will you marry me and forever be by my side?"

A couple wine glasses dropped and someone screamed. A 20 year old looking woman had her phone out recording the whole thing. Marianne and Charles's mouths were ajar.

My answer ?

"Yes."
