5 long hours later
I'm abruptly awaken by the car jolting as we turn into our new driveway. I glance out of the window only to see fog. After wiping off the glass with the nearest object I could find, I look at the house that I am about to live in for maybe 3 months and my mouth immediately drops open. In front of me is a magnificent house. One of more magnitude then anything I've ever seen before. The front of the house is made out a beautifully fine granite rock with a clear finish that made the house practically glow in the sunlight. The pillars surrounding the front have miniature grooves carved into them. My mind is immediately engulfed with a million questions. How did my dad manage to afford something like this? Are we the only ones living here? Where are we? My mind just kept racing with thoughts. I didnt realize I was zoning out until i felt a jerk on my shoulder from Axel shoving it to get my attention. I look at him. "You zoned out" he told me as if he was reading my mind. I nod my head at him, letting him know that I understand. I then turn my head in time to see my father stepping out of the car. I glance at him before my eyes turn to look at the uhaul that's finally pulling into the driveway. I wait for the uhaul truck to park, a headache developing from all of the thoughts still swirling through my mind endlessly. Once the truck has finally parked I walk up to my father and ask if it's ok to grab my bags. He replies with "Go pick put your room first". I nod my head and glance as the enormous house once more before gathering the courage to finally walk up to it. When I reach the front door and take a deep breath and slowly open it. I freeze on the spot and my eyes dart around the room, trying to comprehend what I am seeing. Only when Axels shoulder bumps into mine do I realize that this isnt a dream. My eyes go wide and my first reaction is to run around the entire house and squeal like a 3 year old child, but I hold back, trying to seem at least a little mature. I look around and spot my father walking into the living room so I decide to follow him. He glances at me and asks if I like the house. "Like it? I love it!" I exclaimed. I ran up to him and hugs him tightly, making him stumble a little bit. "Thank you so much" I say in a kind almost soothing voice. "Anything for my children to be happy and healthy" he explained while smiling. "You know that we'd love you even if we didnt have a giant house right?" I ask worriedly. "Of course I do!" Father yelled. I replied with, "Good" then walked away. I walk into the other living area, almost falling due to the unexpected step where the 2 living areas are. I look up after catching my balance, only to see Axel trying not to laugh at my little stumble. "What?" I cross my arms over my chest, a little angry. "Nothing." Axel stops and his face changes into a serious one. He points at the staircase. "Have you seen the upstairs yet?" I look back at him after staring at the staircase for a good 30 seconds. "No I havent. Have you?" "Yea, it's really something else" his face shows everything I need to know before I sprint up the staircase. I look at the overwhelming amount of doors and notice another staircase at the end of the hallway. Theres a third floor? Curiously, I walk to the staircase and slowly walk up it. When I reach the top theres 2 doors, one on each side. I open the door on the right first and see a small closet. I dont open the door on the left, thinking it's another closet and walk back down to the second floor. I go through every room, trying to find one that feels the most like me. Out of the corner of my eye theres a shadow. I turn around and see another hallway. Since when has that been there? I ask myself as I walk to it. I look down the hallway and at the very end there is one single door. I quickly reach the door and open it, immediately I feel very welcomed into this room. Right then and there I decide that will be my room. I run down stairs and outside to the uhaul truck to see all of our stuff unpacked and the truck is gone. They must have unpacked for us then left. I pick up the first box and my father comes out, asking if I need help carrying it to my room. I tell him that I can handle it then walk inside, carrying it into my room. I repeat this pattern a few more more times before all of my boxes and bags are in the room. I look around the room, getting a good look at it for the first time since I first noticed it. The walls are painted with a beautiful sea blue, decorated with white small flowers. The beds rhyme scheme matches the walls, the frame made out of wood with a clear, shiny coat to protect it. Feeling inspired, I decide to unpack my things and get ready for the night.
30 minutes later
Finally. I'm done. I look at the time and see 8:30. Better get to sleep. I change into loose sweatpants and a t-shirt that's 2 sizes bigger then me. I lay down in my bed and stare up at the ceiling. Realization hits me on the spot and in disbelief I whisper, "this is my new house" just before drifting off into a peaceful sleep full of dreams I never thought would come true.
