I asked the universe why I loved you

And I swear the galaxies knew

But they bit their tongues

Held the air in their lungs

The answer was safe was them

And remained unsung

I asked a field of daffodils

I think the dew drops laughed a little

But they shut their mouths

Not a sound was let out

The answer was safe with them

And remained concealed in doubt

I asked my conscience

And I think I can finally be honest

But I'm not saying anything

No words will escape

The answer is safe inside my brain

You wouldn't believe me anyways
