"Ha ha ha ha ha, wait I'm sorry you're what!?" I said wiping the tears from my eyes. That was the funniest thing I heard all year.

"I said" he replied with a somewhat annoyed tone "I am a vampire."

Noticing the annoyed look on Stefan's face I decided to play along. Taking a sip of wine I looked at Stefan in remonstrance. "So you're a vampire huh? Ok, prove it." I said challengingly.

"Okay" Stefan sighed as he stood up. "You want proof, here it is." Right before my eyes, Stefan disappeared.

Looking around frantically the whites of my eyes were more prominent. What the heck just happened!? Holding my hand out to where Stefan had been I felt nothing but air. Feeling a tap on my back I whirled around and there stood Stefan.

Trying my best not to hyperventilate  I used my yoga breathing techniques. Only this time they were working against me. I couldn't quite get a handle on my breathing, taking short quick breaths I began to stumble backwards and my vision became blurry.

I'm having a heart attack I thought as the world turned black and I began to fall towards the ground. Unbeknownst to me I never hit the floor. A pair of strong hands quickly grabbed me and pulled me towards his chest.

I woke in a warm plush bed. Looking around I immediately noticed how dark it was. Whereas the other room had been bright, airy and elegant, this room was dark, stuffy and masculine. A black feather comforter covered dark crimson sheets. The walls were a deep dark burgandy with one feature wall adding black swirls. The floors were made of black hardwood that was warm to the touch. A small desk and wooden chair sat opposite the bed with a small work lamp.

That's where I found Stefan, bent over a sheet of paper writing furiously. Suddenly he whirled around to face me and I screamed, not expecting the sudden movement. Running over to me he grabbed my face and layed a hard kiss upon my lips.

"You're alright," he said tenderly

Unable to speak over my still-beating heart I simply nodded my head. Was I okay? At this moment I was unsure.

"So", Stefan sighed, "I think it's time that you and I had a talk"

Nodding my head once more I steeled myself for what I knew would be an interesting conversation.

"Now that you know I am a vampire, there are some rules that we must adhere to. First, you can never tell anyone what am I am. Humans are not supposed to know about our existence except for special circumstances, such as ours.

Second, vampires are only allowed to feed off of special donors. You being human and also my gemmetta means that you are my special donor.

Third, now that you know about vampires you can not return to your human world. You must stay here with me.... forever.

I looked at Stefan in shock. I could not believe what I just heard. Pushing Stefan away, I ran and ran. Down dimly lit halls and flights of stairs out the back door. I ran into the maze and somehow I managed to make it to the pond. There I fell down on my knees and wept, unaware of a pair of sparkling ocean blue eyes watching my every move.

Three hours later Ellie came to fetch me from the pond with the excuse of dinner being prepared and me having to wash up and change into something more appropriate. I, however, was in no mood for any of it. I would much rather be in bed snuggled under one of the heavy blankets, sleeping my sorrows away. But Ellie had different plans for me.

Once we arrived in the white elegantly furnished room, what would later become my room, Ellie rushed me off to the on-suite bathroom to shower. Once I was clean Ellie sat me down at the vanity to apply light nude makeup and twist my hair into a beautiful braid that leads up to a perfectly crafted bun. Next, she dressed me in a beautiful dark blue dress with a sweetheart neckline with crystals down the front that was knee length and trailed down to the floor in flowy fabric in the back. The overall effect was breathtaking, however, I did not feel as good as I looked.

Ellie gave me an approving look and guided me down to the dining room. There sitting in wait, with a strained silence was Stefan. Across from him were Lillith and a man I didn't know sitting next to her. Before Stefan could get a word out Lillith turned to me.

"Milania darling, how nice to see you again. Please take a seat we have much to discuss."
