Looking around I was completely and utterly confused. Taking a seat next to Stefan I saw him give me an apologetic look. This would not go well I thought as I looked at the smirk on Lillith's face.

"So  Milania, how are you today?" Lillith asked sweetly

"Um...I'm doing fine" I answered dubiously.

"That's good to hear dear. Now I would like to introduce you to my friend Councilman Bellfringe. He deals with human relations."

"Nice to meet you Milania. Councilman Bellfringe said holding his hand out to me. "Today must be such an exciting day for you."

Shaking his hand I gave him a confused look " I'm not sure what you mean by that Councilman Bellfringe."

"Of course you don't darling" Lillith purred. "Our dear Stefan here wanted it to be a surprise."

Giving Lillith a hard look he responded " Lillith is an uninvited guest. As for the councilman, I had no idea this would happen."

"Nodding his head councilman Bellfinge commented " Yes, yes a lot of vampires are unaware of the process that pertains to having a human mate. I am here to educate you." "As you know Stefan, humans are not supposed to know about the existence of vampires. The only exceptions are blood donors and your gemmetta of course. In both cases, there are special rules that must be followed."

"Firstly, the finding of a human gemmetta must be reported immediately to the council. Second, all humans must have a sponsor other than their gemmetta to speak on their behalf before the council. Luckily for you, Stefan, Lillith has agreed to be Milania's sponsor.

"What!" Stefan exclaimed, " I didn't choose Lillith to be Milania's sponsor."

"You also did not inform the council that you have a human gemmetta. Thankfully, Lillith informed us on your behalf."

"That is if she even is Stefan's gemmetta" Lillith whispered slyly.

"Of Course she is!" Stefan bellowed loudly

"Settle down would you, if it weren't for Lillith you would be receiving an entirely different meeting from the council. If I were you I would show a little gratitude".

Stefan just glared at Councilman Bellfringe in response while Lillith sat with a sly smirk on her face, enjoying the spectacle.

"Now," Councilman Bellfringe said returning Stefan's glare, "you have exactly thirty days to convince us that this woman belongs to you and can fit in our world. She must become accustomed to our way of life and must do so of her own free will. If she refuses or if you fail to fully claim her within thirty days she will die and you Stefan will be forced to choose an alternate gemmetta."

Pulling out a vial with some sort of strange glowing concoction councilman Bellfringe continued talking.

"This is called a neutrality potion. It ensures that you will not be under the influence of vampire magic." He said sliding the potion over to me."Drink"

Looking at his stern face I could tell that I had no choice but to drink the potion. I noticed Stefan's eyes darken as he watched me empty the vial. A tingling sensation settled over me and soon vanished. I waited a minute but nothing else happened so I assumed the potion worked.

"Now remember Miss Milania" Councilman Bellfringe said leaning forward. " Either you convince us that you belong in this world, or you die. Best of luck to you"

With that councilman Bellfringe left the room, leaving us in stunned silence. All except Lillith who was apparently having a hard time containing her laughter.

"Well, well well, let the games begin."
