Fontaine POV:
I laid there in this old and dark room. I didn't know what to do or what they were going to do to me in here. Plus this knight was starting to get uncomfortable. After a couple minutes of no one coming to check up on me I opened the front of the knight and shimmied out. I sat there on the ground. Then I stood up and looked around, I couldn't stay stuck here forever. But on the other hand where would I go if I escaped? Something was wrong with my family. I was left with my thoughts for too long and they were swallowing me whole. I didn't know what to do, punch something, break down and cry, scream till my throat was raw. Just then someone opened the door. I bolted onto my feet and clenched my fists.
"Whoa! no need to fight me," Finn said raising his arms up in pretend surrender.
"What do you want?" I said sitting back down exasperated.
"Like I said before are you okay?"
"I'm fine" I said stiffly.
"No you're not I can see it in your eyes."
I looked up into his blue eyes then looked away. "Whatever."
"When you sent in the distress call you said it's gaining on me, what do you mean?"
I sat there silently. If he knew my family weren't themselves he would not doubt tell his dad and they would try to seize the Aronnax.
"Come on talk to me, I can tell something is wrong. You're missing your usual spunk."
"This spunky enough for you," I said standing up and pushing him, not too hard that he fell but enough to know I'm not in the mood. He looked hurt. no he was a pirate, he was probably faking it. When I sat back down I turned and faced the other corner. He didn't give up though. He sat down beside me. At least he didn't try to talk this time. We just sat there silently. Unlike the Aronnax, the Dark Orca wasn't as warm or inviting and you could hear the rickety old pipes that sounded like they would malfunction at any moment.
"So when do you think your family is going to pull of their elaborate rescue." He joked.
"They aren't." I said quietly holding back tears. To my surprise he didn't say something loud and totally obnoxious back. In fact he went silent again. I could feel tears welling up in my eyes and just hoped it was dark enough in here that he couldn't see. He put his hand on my shoulder and I almost shrugged it off but didn't. I left his arm on my shoulder. After I couldn't hold it in anymore a hot tear rolled down my cheek.
"Finn!" I whipped around and instinctively wiped my cheek with my finger. Mad Madeline was standing in the doorway.
"Maddy, hey." He said standing up.
"You shouldn't be here." She said tauntingly.
"Little sis it's fine just leave."
"You're friends with the enemy."
"How is she our enemy?"
"Her and her do gooder family are always messing up our plans."
"Well we don't have any plans now so go."
"What do you think Dad would say about you being in here?"
"If you don't tell Dad about Fontaine and I, I won't tell Dad about you and Ant."
Maddy paused like she was thinking.
"What, You think we didn't know?" I butted in.
"Deal," She said grudgingly.
Having Ant brought up in the conversation made me miss him so much. His dumb and annoying comments and his genius ideas. How he would never let me forget if I said something nice to him. Thinking about him just made me sad. I was so lost and confused. I stopped paying attention to the words being said all I could see was their lips moving. As soon as Mad Madeline left the room I broke down. I was full on crying and couldn't stop. I thought Finn left with her but I was wrong he was right here watching the mess I've become.
