Have you ever been at the wrong place at the wrong time? You see many are quick to judge. You happen to be somewhere and now your on trial for murder. Sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself; let me start from the beginning.

I bolted upright to the sound of my alarm and banged my head on the ceiling. I am on the top of a bunk bed that I share with my twin sister, Kaylie. Let's just say, it was not a great start to the day.
I rubbed my head as I climbed down the ladder of my bunk bed. It looked like Kaylie had just woken up too. She looked as if she heard the commotion and was trying not to laugh. I glared at her playfully which made her burst out laughing.
Kaylie and I have a really good relationship; we both love to read and draw and have a lot of the same skill sets. The only difference is that I'm a dancer and she plays soccer. Not only do we act the same, we also happen to be identical twins. We have the same long blonde hair, green eyes, freckles and slim build. We are both about 5" 6 and probably are done growing. Our favorite thing to do is to trick others into thinking it's the other twin.
We got dressed and headed down to breakfast. In the kitchen our mom was smiling at us and our father was reading the paper. We gulped down our breakfast, made hasty good byes and headed off to school. We stopped at Buckstar (Starbucks got bought out) to get our coffee before classes. Kaylie and I both have an IQ of 167. (The average person has an IQ of 100.) Because of this we skipped many grades and are now sophomores in college instead of sophomores/juniors in high school.
Kaylie and I are inseparable. Like I said, we are pretty much the same person. I couldn't imagine life without her, and I'm sure she feels the same towards me.
After a long days worth of classes, Kaylie and I decided to stop at Lixpub to buy some Oreos. We were at the check out when a loud ringing sound came over the intercom. CODE RED! CODE RED! It blared. My head whipped around to see a man in black staring at me and Kaylie. Twelve unmoving bodies were spread around the man. He pointed the gun at us and fired. I tried to duck but the bullet still hit me in the shoulder and I felt a burning sensation also on my face. Kaylie was also hit directly in her thigh. She fell on the floor next to me in a pool of blood. My eyes were overflowing with tears and I was literally seeing red. With the last of my strength, I grabbed the gun from the man and shot him. He collapsed and died right there. I started shaking as I attempted (and failed) to crawl over to my sister. My other half. The one I couldn't be without. The police and tons of ambulances showed up. Kaylie was still breathing, but none of the others were. Lucky for me, I had thrown the gun to the side so no officer would think I shot all the people.
As Kaylie and I were being pulled away on a stretcher, a nagging thought came in my mind. Emily, you just killed someone. I started shaking harder than I had before. It was self defense. I told myself. You think the law cares? My brain countered. I started hyperventilating. The police and judges didn't care if a fifteen year old girl had been shot and harmed. I could and would be charged for the murder of a murderer. That was my last thought as I drifted into unconsciousness.

I woke up on a hospital with thick bandages around my torso and shoulder. I couldn't move even though I tried to sit up. The doctors noticed my sudden stirring and held me down so I wouldn't injure myself further. "Where's my sister?" I asked suddenly.
The doctors looked at each other with wide eyes. They pointed to a small cot next to me. I craned my neck to see her. She was sleeping peacefully and the doctors assured me there would be no lasting damage. I noticed that looking through my right eye was difficult to say the least. I felt blind through that eye. "Umm, may I have a mirror?" I asked one of the doctors. He exchanged glance with a nurse next to him as he slowly nodded his head. He placed a mirror in my right hand and when I looked int the mirror, I almost screamed.
There was a deep, long, gash that stretched from the center of my forehead to the right end of my face, right next to my chin. It stretched across my eye and I almost screamed again. I was looking at an empty socket. I had lost my eye. "W-what happened?" I stuttered.
"We had to do an emergency operation on your spine. It was really messed up, so we were going to try to fix it. One of our new nurses accidentally cut you with a scalpel." The head doctor told me.
I stared at him. I really hoped I appeared calm, because in my head I was screaming, WHAT THE HECK?! WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD THEY LET A NEW DOCTOR DO A COMPLEX SURGERY ON A 15 YEAR OLD GIRL?! AND MY SPINE ISN'T NEAR MY FACE! HOW DID HE CUT ME WHEN MY SPINE IS NOT EVEN NEXT TO MY FACE!?
I breathed in a shaky breath. "My spine isn't next to my face," I said, trying not to let them know that I wanted to punch that nurse really hard in the face. "So how in the world did he cut my face instead of my back?"
The nurses looked at each other and shrugged. I rolled my eye as I looked back in the mirror. I looked at Kaylie as she stirred slightly. She bolted up right a moment later and looked around with wild eyes. Her eyes landed on me and wides slightly. Mine did too as I saw she had the same mark on her forehead. I smiled slightly in spite of myself; we still looked the same even if one of our green eyes was missing. Now that my head is clear, I begin to notice my leg is up with a bullet wound too. And her torso and shoulders are bandaged like mine. Before I could think to hard about it, two tall, muscular lawyers in black suits opened the door.
"We need to arrest Emily Abher," they told us. "She is going to be put on trial for murder."
