"What a surprise, empty today..."
Behind a bar counter, a deep voiced cat demon grumbled to himself. As the days passed, he slowly began to regret accepting Alastor's cheap booze. The only thing that happened that was interesting at the hotel was Alastor killing something, or Charlie and Vaggie fighting. So far, only one demon came to the hotel, and it was merely for the bar. He slumped in his stool, watching the only other demon at the hotel, Niffty. She was running around, tidying up what was already not perfect. She often had long pauses before doing anything, and she seemed just as bored as him. The girl looked around, and eventually met eye to eyes with him. He cursed himself for staring, and she pranced towards him."What are you staring at? Anyways, hey, I'm so~ bored to death! I wanna cook something! What do you want, Husk? You wanna eat fish? How about tuna? Or are you a shrimp kind of guy? Popcorn shrimp? What else to cats eat... erm-"
She spoke at lightning fast speeds, annoying him by the moment. Especially the fact that she assumed he eats what cats eat.
"Jesus! Just make something! Whatever makes you feel like you're doing shit, or something..."
He replied angrily, just wanting her away from him.Niffty hopped towards the hotel's kitchen, and loud banging of pots and pans surrounded the area. He banged his head on the desk, trying to distract himself from the noise. However, in less than 5 minutes, he felt something pulling his ears. He shouted angrily, looking around for who did it, but instead was greeted with his food. It looked like genuine restaurant food, from back in the 1970's, when he was alive, and it smelled amazing. He made sure she wasn't watching him or anything, and he dug in, eating it entirely in a short time.
"Damn... reminds me of home."
He grumbled, putting his arms behind his head and leaning back.
"You think it's delicious? Thank you! I've been working on it's recipe for-ever~! It's got a bunch of spices and stuff, I don't wanna go into detail, but-"
She rambled on again, and Husk just let her talk, since she would just start again if he stopped her.He felt like she would soon run out of things to say, but instead, she managed to climb onto his bar counter, and she moved to other subjects. Not once did he reply or even listen to her, but she went on for hours. He lowered his head, zoning her out. Niffty looked at him, and frowned.
"Husk— I'm sorry. Am I really that annoying?"
She asked him in a slightly slower tone. His ears twitched, and he looked at her. He begun to consider what he was to say. If it was anyone else, he'd say something witty and rude, but she looked at him, expecting a real answer.
"Listen, you got a problem. Slow the fuck down sometimes."
He answered as honestly as he could, then rotated his stool, looking for a drink that interested him. Niffty sighed, and laid down on the counter. Husk picked out some sort of whiskey, and started to drink, but a pang of guilt hit him like a truck. He never had empathy, or cared about anyone. Even in his living life, he only wanted money, booze, and gambling. But now, he felt like he had to at least try."Alright, tell ya what. I'll help clean around 'ere. Will that make you feel better?"
He hated being considerate, but he felt like playing nice for once. Niffty looked at him, and softly giggled.
"Well, you can help me restock the bar, shuffle the cards at the table, clean out the fireplace, but after that, we can do whatever YOU want."
He eyes slowly drooped more as she spoke, but nonetheless nodded, while grumbling. Niffty ran over to a box, scuffling through it to find two cases of various beers, whiskeys, and more. Niffty lifted them up, her legs trembling at the weight on her small body. He took them from her, and started restocking, feeling like he was finally doing something productive. He walked over to the box, softly moving her hand from the next bottles. Husk did the job for her, eventually having the shelves stashed, and some extras under the bar counter. He then made his way to the poker and blackjack table, and shuffled the cards like a professional. Niffty didn't know how to shuffle.
