It's over now. There's no way to bring back the past.
Is time travel just an illusion to make us believe that we can do anything we want? Perhaps.

It's been a week since Ava's passing. She's no longer here. Only the remnants of her fragrance lies in this very laboratory. It's like Mirai just took her place, from what we were just 3 lab members. All we've been doing is mourning for her death, and just sitting there like a couch potato.
The news were filled with a mysterious satellite that crashed on top of the Office Tower, it looked quite peculiar.
*ring*
It's the doorbell. I stood up with my messy attire and baggy eyes, and reached the door.
I saw the very same girl that was wearing that futuristic outfit; she had that jet-black jacket and those pair of pants that look as if they belong on a battlefield, and braided hair that had the very same alabaster hair color as Connor's.
"Hello. My apologies for introducing myself late. My name's Karen. You might be wondering who those guys were, right?"
We all nodded our heads.
"Those are the members of the Global Institute of Nuclear Research. If I'm not mistaken, you're Mark Collins, right?"
"H-How do you know my name? And how do you know about those guys?"
"I come from the future."
There was a moment of silence in the room, and we didn't believe a thing she said.
"If you're from the future, then why on earth are you here?"
"That's because I'm looking for my father, the one who created the time machine. You see that satellite-looking thing in the news? That's the thing I was aboard while travelling to here. I don't remember the name of my father, but I am certain that he was working with you, Mark."
All of us were looking at Connor with our eyes wide open.
"So you're saying, Connor is your dad?"
"His name's Connor? That sounds quite familiar, but distant at the same time."
"..."
"D-Dad... I finally met you."
She rushed towards Connor and gave him a warm embrace.
"You know Mark, it feels weird having a cute girl come at you and give you a hug out of the blue."
"And hold on... Is that... Mirai?"
Mirai nodded her head. However, Karen gave a stern look at her.
"I see... So that's what happened...", she whispered.
"What do you mean?" I said
"Nothing."
"Uh Karen, could you help us out? My childhood friend Ava was just murdered a week ago, is there any way I could bring her back?"
"Oh, her... She was alive in the future, but she went missing at some point. Anyway, yes, there is a way to bring her back."
"Tell me now! How do I bring her back?!" I approached her desperately, I didn't realize I was directly in front of her face.
"Uh, calm down. I'll tell you how."
"Ever heard of the butterfly effect?"
"Is it the thing where a small change in one worldline creates a big change in another worldline? "
