Chapter 3
YES!
"Mommy," I said sincerely, batting my eyelashes. I remembered the days when that would get me anything. I remember when I wanted to have a pony party, and my mom said no. I did this exactly."What do you want?" She asked, without looking up from her phone screen. Obviously busy with work. She had gotten a new case, some guy got accused of murdering someone, but my mom thinks differently.
"Can I get some new jodhpurs from Aunt Nikki's?" I replied, with a sweet innocent smile. I get all of my stuff at Aunt Nikki's to support her.
She looked up at me.
"Sure," then going back to her phone, "here's my card." She said, handing me a platinum card, with an eagle flying across it. I doubt she even heard what I said, she is probably just giving it to me, to shut me up.
But I still got it, so who cares.
"Thanks," I leaned over and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Grabbing my purse and phone off the wooden entry hall table. I opened the front door, waved goodbye and walked out, onto the freshly mowed lawn. The gardener is working on the flowers in the garden.
My mom must have told her driver, William to pick me up. He was sitting in the Mercedes, starting the engine.
I opened the door to the car and slid into the back seat of the car. The leather seats making strange noises beneath me.
"Afternoon Ms. Taylor," he greeted with a nod.
"Hello William," I said happily.
"Where to?" He asked.
"Aunt Nikki's Tack Shop."
★★★
I jumped out of the car, grabbing my purse and phone out of the compartment in the door.
"I'll be back soon," I said.
"I will be out here, Ms. Taylor."
With that, I walked up the two steps and into the shop. I noticed that Aunt Nikki had rearranged everything. This was going to be fun.
After looking where the jodhpurs originally were, and about everywhere else, I hadn't found any jodhpurs. I walked towards the till to ask the assistant for help.
The guy behind the desk, had his back facing towards me. He was a brunette and must have started working here recently.
"Excuse me. I've looked everywhere, and I can't find any jodhpurs."
The assistant carried on working a few seconds longer, then turned around, and azure blue eyes bored into mine.
"Hey Britney," Matt said chuckling.
"When did you start working here?" I asked shyly. I can't believe I didn't know it was him.
"Yesterday, I needed some money and your aunt offered. So, about those jodhpurs." He started walking to the corner in the front. I had looked there, and all I saw was shirts, gloves, hats, and ... Oh ... There they are! Now, I felt like an idiot.
"Oops..." I smiled shyly, blushing and giggling.
"You are really something," with a cheeky smirk on his face.
"I hope you meant something good?" I asked laughing.
He nodded, winking at me. His blue eyes memorizing me.I can never stop blushing when I'm around him! Is that normal?
"On a serious note," he grabbed a pair of beige jodhpurs and threw them at me.
"How do you know which size I am?" I asked suspiciously.
"I am magic," he said mysteriously, "just joking, you look like a 34" I just giggled, and grabbed another black pair.
After trying them on, I decided to buy both. I grabbed them and dropped them onto the counter.
"That will be $99," I passed him my mom's card. He slid the card machine across the counter, and I enter the five digit passcode.
He put my jodhpurs into a bag and passed the white plastic bag to me.
"Bye Matthew! See you on Monday." I said, turning towards the door.
"Britney, wait." He yelled coming from behind the desk. Did I leave my slip again? I'm extremely forgetful and almost always forget my slip, card or purse. Once I forgot my actual bag of clothes.
"Yes," I asked staring into his blue eyes once more.
"I was wondering, if you possibly wanted to go on a date?"
"With who?" I asked winking. After I saw him scowl.
I slapped his arm, "just joking! Of course I will!" I said smiling."Great! I'll pick you up tomorrow at 10am."
I nodded, playing it cool. Squeal! And I walked out with the biggest smile on my face.
