Karlie awoke to the flat, grey light of another winter New York day. Her body still attuned to her morning run schedule, she automatically looked at her phone. 6.45am. Taylor was still draped across her torso, a light frown contorting her delicate features. Karlie hoped she wasn't having a bad dream, and kissed her forehead before gently nudging the sleeping woman off her. Taylor mumbled something incoherent as she rolled onto the spot where Karlie's body laid, feeling involuntarily for warmth. She couldn't help but smile at how endearing her girlfriend was when asleep.

Wrapping a black satin bathrobe around her, Karlie headed to the kitchen. She switched on her espresso maker and prepared two cups beneath the filter spouts. As the coffee brewed, she gazed at her phone absentmindedly. Her finger hovered over her email inbox, reluctant to face another hectic schedule, before eventually opening the app. A message from SB Management glared back at her.

Hey Karlie! Looking forward to our meeting today, got some great ideas for your YouTube branding. See you at 2.00pm
SB Team

Karlie felt her stomach momentarily lurch. With little warning, her modelling agency had signed her on with Scooter Braun's management a couple of years ago, and though she hadn't dealt with him personally beyond the occasional phone call, something about his brand's high level of influence over so many questionable industry faces made her uneasy. She knew he was in part responsible for the orchestration of the Kardashian-West lead witchhunt against Taylor, and was a master in the PR game of fake relationships. Karlie wrote a quick confirmation reply and sent it without looking, putting the meeting at the back of her thoughts.

'Coffee for two?'

Taylor's eyes opened slowly to Karlie appearing with two steaming mugs.

'Yay you're still here ...I thought you'd gone for a run' She murmured, her voice croaky in her half-asleep haze.

'On your album release week? That would just be rude!' Karlie placed the mugs on the bedside table and joined her girlfriend beneath the covers. 'Made you a cappuccino'

'Thanks....want to cuddle for a bit first' Taylor hummed, wrapping one arm around a soft but firm stomach.

'Still sleepy?' Karlie placed a hand on Taylor's head, combing her fingers through tousled blonde hair.

'Mmhm...Last night was a lot to take in' She murmured into Karlie's chest. Her fingers traced the taller girl's collarbones.

'Are you talking about the people or the drinks?' Karlie raised an eyebrow, smirking.

'Hey! I only had like 3!' Taylor scoffed back. 'I'm just messing with you' Karlie laughed, before planting a series of kisses across her forehead. 'You deserve a relaxing day'

Taylor's eyes adjusted to the morning light. Sitting upright to sip her coffee, she noticed the time on the bedside clock.

'Do you have much on today?' I've only got a few online announcements scheduled so can work from home if you wanted to order in some brunch food...?'

'Aw babe, I'd love to but I've got a shoot with Adidas across town in a couple hours then another PR meeting thing this afternoon' Karlie sighed, squeezing her girlfriend's shoulder gently.

'You know it's pretty rude of you to let your modelling, YouTube and entrepreneur career get in the way of my pancake and mimosa plans' Taylor replied sarcastically, folding her arms in fake-annoyance.

'Hey! I'll make up for it with dinner later'

'And...?'

'And, I don't know...whatever else you feel like doing tonight' Karlie whispered closed to Taylor's ear, walking her fingers across her shoulder blades before placing a long, lingering kiss at the nape of her neck, her teeth grazing the soft, sensitive skin. Taylor felt a shivering rush of pleasure, turning to face Karlie directly. Their lips slowly met in a deep, longing kiss. Reluctant to stop, Karlie slowly pulled away, her heart melting at Taylor's forlorn seablue eyes.
