(Sorry this took a while! Very busy atm but thank you to everyone just stopping by to read! ) xx

4.46am. In a sea of blue-green dawn light, the 2014 met ball afterparty was drawing to a steady close.

Taylor and Karlie had retreated away from the guests' main hall to a dimly lit back room, glowing with happiness from the glittering night together.

'Okay, but what the fuck were the Olsons wearing tonight?' Karlie said, lounging back onto the velvet Chaise Lounge they were settled on.

'Karlie!' Taylor exclaimed in genuine surprise.

'Sorry, I just had to say now we're alone, they were total a mess!' she shrugged, slurring slightly.

Taylor giggled drunkenly. 'You know...  its kind of hot when you're a bit mean' she added with a shy smile.

Karlie raised an amused eyebrow.

'Want me to insult you too?'

'Go on, roast me'

Karlie's eyes trail Taylors body slowly, her eyes lingering on her waist wrapped in the silken Oscar de la Renta dress.

'I honestly can't... you look like a fucking painting tonight'

'Aw, you're sweet... you too'

The pair pause.

'I-' They both say at once, stopping and laughing, each glancing to different walls.

'You go first' Karlie says softly, placing a hand on Taylor's crossed leg.

'I was just going to say... I know we've been doing this sort of...friends with benefits thing for a while...' Taylor looked down at her hands as she spoke.

'But, I think I might want you more than that...you know, like... '

'...Girlfriends?' Karlie finished her sentence. She stared at Taylor with unblinking, glimmering blue eyes.

'I mean, I think so.' Taylor felt her heart rate triple - Karlie's face was completely unreadable. Shit, I've said the wrong thing. A heavy silence fell on the room.

'You're the only person I've ever felt a true connection for...you're just...you mean so much to me, Karlie'.

Why isn't she saying anything?

'...Me too' Karlie finally replied.

Taylor breathed out again. 'Really?'

'I've been too scared to ask these past few months, because... you know, you're Taylor...but the past two years have been so incredible...you know, the connection we've built through everything. I honestly can't imagine my life without you now'

Taylor looked up at the taller girl, her eyes shimmering with tears of happiness.

'I love you, Karlie' Taylor's voice quivered in nervous anticipation.

Fingers effortlessly wrapped around the satin fabric of Taylor's dress. She felt the hairs on her skin rise as Karlie's lips moved close to her ear.

'I love you too, Taylor'

------

"Taylor? Taylor?"

Taylor jolted out of her daydream, blushing slightly. Joe had been boring her for what felt like hours of self-promo chat about his acting career; her mind had wandered back to much more eventful nights out. Her eyes trailed the ornate hotel bar before settling back to her nearly empty wine glass. She couldn't wait to get home.
