prologue

I stood in front of the school, the cool wind blew by sending goosebumps up my arms. Ignoring that, I walked towards the planters instantly veering to the right. This planter was special, we planted the roses that grew here together. I began to examine the mess of stems occasionally pricking myself with a thorn. There was nothing there. There had to be something there. There had too.

I had been all around town today, looking and searching by wherever there were roses. The flower shop, the park, by restaurants, outside the ice cream shop, but to no avail. A sudden rush of emotions came over me, I felt defeated. But before I could officially give up on looking a bright light shined, blinding me momentarily.

There laid a delicate silver necklace across the dirt, a small petal from a wilting red rose falling near it. The necklace was instantly familiar, it's Minhee's.

I picked it up and my hands began to tremble, I stood there in total confusion, that had just shown up.

But before I go into what happened next I should probably tell you how this happened, and why I'm here.

"Y/N! Y/N!" Yunseo yelled, quickly running towards me as I fiddled with my food waiting for her to arrive. I looked up at her, very confused wondering what news was so important. She caught her breath, panting before she began, "Minhee has a crush on you! He's going to ask you out!"

My eyes widened, he was a tall, funny, attractive, not to mention popular, boy who I sat next to in my math class. We had come to be pretty good friends, but I would've never expected that. "No way." She sighed rolling her eyes before nodding, "I'm not lying! He asked me what your favorite flowers were and I didn't know what to say so I blurted out roses."

"Really though? He for sure likes me? I find that very hard to believe."' I said gradually starting to believe her more. She sat down, grabbing the food I hadn't wanted to eat and nodded, with her mouth full she began, "Yes! For sure. Look he's walking over here, and he has roses! Oh fuck this is actually happening Y/N!" I looked towards his direction, my heart beginning to race, before turning around, "Shut up you're so loud!" She laughed at me, still chewing. "And nasty, can you please close your mouth!"

"Hey Y/N." Minhee said smiling, his hands gripping onto the bouquet so tightly his knuckles had gone white. I could feel my face getting warm as I smiled at him, "Hey Minhee." I said nervously, my voice going up an octave. He chuckled quietly before asking, "Can I talk to you outside Y/N?" I nodded before standing up and following him, turning my head to see my best friend shoot me a big smile and a thumbs up.

Once outside he handed me the bouquet of red roses, they were gorgeous. Their petals not completely bloomed but just about ready, a very light sheen of water droplets coated the petals, I'm not one for flowers but I could make an exception for these. He cleared his throat before he started talking, "I know this is kind of random, but will you go on a date with me? I think you're really cool and I'd love to get to know you more." I smiled shyly my head hanging low as I tried to get myself together. I looked up with a smile still on my face and nodded, "I'd love too Minhee." He smiled brightly before turning to look at his multi koo ple friends who stared at us intensely witch grins on their faces and their phones out recording the whole thing. My face went hotter as I covered my face with the roses he had given me. He chuckled, I followed soon after and began to laugh shyly.

"Y/N's going on date! Y/N is going on a date! I'm going to tell your mom!" Yunseo chanted loudly, I quickly pulled the roses from my face to see her with her phone also out, stood next to Dongpyo. I turned to Minhee and quickly moved to stand behind him. He turned around wrapping is arms around me and pulling me closer to him. I smiled shyly moving my arms to wrap around his waist, making all our friends cheer, and my face flush.
