Her letter

spinel's POV

  I wake up, feeling happy for some reason. I move my arms across the bed, wait... Where's Steven?! I sit up, my breath quickening, I look around but see no sight of Steven. I jump out bed and run downstairs, suddenly, I trip on the stairs- WAIT!-
  I close my eyes knowing I'll probably poof cause I saw that sword standing upward and I was heading towards it..! I embrace myself for the pain but nothing happens, I open one eye and squint to see a shield under me. I look up and see Steven sticking out his hand, making sure I didn't hit the ground hard. I jump off and land gently, I could feel my red face. I can't believe he saw me do that! This is more than just embarrassing, it's- it's...
  I hear Steven exhale and the shield disappears into nothing. He bends and puts his hands on his knees, that was quite a quick reflex he pulled on me. I should thank him! Oh gosh, I worry and say, "T-Thank you, Steven... You saved my life twice now, heh?" I remember when my injector exploded, but Steven saved me using his pink bubble. He replies with, "Oh- Yeah, it was nothing." He puts his hands on his hips and grinned. I giggle and stretch my arm to boop him, I laugh and yell, "Tag, you're it!" And I frail my arms up and run away, he starts chasing me.
  Once we finished tag, Steven wanted to check up on little homeworld. I followed eagerly, giggling, having the time of my life! I hope I never leave his side, ever.

Steven's POV
-
I say my goodbyes to Lapis, Bismuth, and peridot. Peridot playfully yells, "Farewell you, clod!" I roll my eyes and smile, the warp pad glows and I'm back to my house, with spinel, of course.
  I did my regular routine, eating, showering, and sleeping. I walk upstairs to see Spinel with her back turned to me, she had something in her hand. I walk up to her slowly. Suddenly, I see a small tear hit the ground, my eyes widen and I press my lips tightly. Spinel turns around, with a sad and angry look on her face. I then spot a letter in her hand. I don't know what to say or do, what the hell happened?! She was just happy a few minutes ago. Spinel stretches her arm out and shoves the letter to me. I grab it to take a closer look. Wait... is this Connie's letter? It's been  a few days and I still haven't read the letter, I wonder what was inside. I confusingly look up at Spinel, she then spoke, "Steven... Do you love that human girl?" She makes eye contact with me and I feel my heart skip a beat. I reply with, "W-What? I only saw her as a friend, she's not even here anymore. She moved far away," I grip the letter, "Before she left, she gave me this letter to remember her by. I haven't read it yet..." I then realize suddenly, "You read it, didn't you?" Her face tenses. I continue with, "Well, what did it say?.." through gritted teeth she replies with, "She confessed her love for you!" I cringe at her struggle with saying that. I take the letter and rip it in two. Spinel looks at me, widening her big eyes. I toss the letter, "Well, I don't feel the same unfortunately." I was about to say 'I loved someone else' but stopped myself from doing it. I walk towards her, and give her a hug. She doesn't hug me back. Instead, she backs up and gives me a kiss on my cheek. My face flushed quickly, she then wraps her arms around me, "I like hearing that..." she whispers into my ear. That sends a chill down my spine, yet I smiled into her cute pink hair.
  Me and Spinel decided to forget that ever happened. She said her apologies and I accepted them, I could never be mad her. We go to sleep and I make sure to keep her close to me. I love her warmth and the feeling of her perfectly cut gem on my arm, she got more comfortable with me, too. Our legs in twined each other, we've never been this close, and I didn't want it to end. I put my face into her neck and smiled. I could feel her shiver and I wondered what her face looked like, all flustered. She still didn't face me whenever we slept but, I know I wouldn't be able to sleep if I was that close to her face. I'd be to busy staring at her cute features.
  Not long until I fell asleep with Spinel.

Spinel's POV
-
  Finally Steven fell asleep, I feel so.. so.. flustered? I reach my hand to my face, I feel so hot. Ugh... I still can't get the human girl out of my mind! I was angry someone was gonna try take Steven away from me. What would I do without him? Well, now I feel like an idiot for assuming he liked her back. Maybe it was just jealousy. I didn't want a random human taking away my- MY best friend!.. Yeah...
