It was my first night alone in my new apartment. And it wasn't my choice to move 2 nights before the purge. It's was my mothers, yep my mom's. She thought it would be a fantastic idea to kick me out, because I failed my psychology exam, thanks mom. Anyways my names Amber, I'm 16 and live in la California.
The purge is basically a yearly event where all crime is legal.
So murder, rape, stealing etc. yep and I'm a 16 year old In a run down apartment block, who has to survive by herself. My estimation, not very likely.
I pick up my last box and head for the elevator. I place the box in one arm and click the button number '13'.
I get wait for the elevator to get to my floor. But the elevator stops and number 7 and a crowd of boys maybe 8 or 9.
I squish into the corner to make room for them.
I see one of them staring at me, so they quickly turn away.
He was quite attractive, he had brown hair, and brown eyes from what I could see. He looked around 19.
"Miss? exscuse me?" I shake my head and see one of them waving there hand In my face.
"Oh shit! Sorry I wasn't paying attention"! "It's alright" he says while laughing.
I squish my way past the boys and smile at them and I get out.
I take out my door key and turn them in the door. It was very resilient and I had to push hard with my hip to get it to open.
I place my keys and and the box on the counter.
I collapse on the old sofa, and slowly drift of to sleep.

I flutter my eyes open, to find myself in a dark room.
A sharp pain runs through my leg, I look down to see two blunt knifes pierced in my legs.
"Help me!" I scream.
"No one is going to help you tonight" I hear a dark voice become clearer and clearer.
I look up at the face and it hits me, it's the boy from earlier. Crap.

WAKE UP! I feel a hand smack my face, and then a burning pain. "OUCH!"
"Oh good your awake, you were screaming to help so I did."
I shake my head and see Amy, my sister, standing above me with a glass of water in her hand.
"What were you going to do with that?" "Chuck it over you" she says with a grin on her face.
I hear the toilet flush and then see the door swing open, and out step my least favourite person, Luke, my sisters boyfriend. He is so ewwww!
"You need to start getting ready the purge is in three hours."
"Wait what no it's in 2 days?" "What? No Amber it's in 3 hours, we have put up your boards, and here's your gun" she chucks me a pistol. "Right.. Thanks."
she hugs be then leaves waving Luke to follow.
Three hours to get ready, great. I lock my door with 10 padlocks I installed the other day.
And lock all the windows and doors except my bedroom, bathroom and kitchen.
I reach under my bed and bring out my rucksack. I place a sleeping bag, first aid kit, water, and some tinned food, I do this every year I case I need to escape quickly.
I them go into my kitchen and get all defence wepons such as knifes, screw drivers etc.
I lay them all out and equip them. I take a look at the time and realise I have 1 hour until it commences. I heat up some left over Chinese and eat it. It's currently 6.45 so there is 15 minutes.
I cuddle on the sofa and turn on Netflix and begin to watch '22 jump street' which happens to be one of my favs.
And then my TV goes blank and a green TV screen comes on and says "this is not a test. This is your emergency broadcast system announcing the commencement of the annual purge sanctioned by the U.S government. Weapons of class 4 and lower have been authorised for use during the purge. All other weapons are restricted. Government officials of ranking 10 have been granted immunity from the purge and shall not be harmed. Commencing at ten sirens, any and all crime will be legal for 12 continuos hours . Police, fire and emergency medical services will be unavailable until tomorrow morning until 7 a.m., when the purge concludes. Blessed be our new founding fathers and America, a nation reborn, may god be with you all." I felt my heart drop and then I heard the sirens begin
