"Who Needs Alladin's Lamp?"

A zooming overhead, a roaring sound,

 A steel-framed bird swoops by.

For some quick mission there and far,

See its cloud-like path up in the sky

A motor whirs,

 A car, a bus, a jeep, a trike -

For those who choose to ride,

To school, to office, and to bike.

Within my room, beside my bed

A cabinet says words, and words, and words,

It sings, plays both night and day.

What happy, happy scenes unfold!

A ringing bell, so loud and clear,

A signal call from a distant friend

With some important news to send,

Or just to say hello.I press a button... lo! behold!

What a brilliant light floods all about

Through globes or tubes of shiny glass,

And darkness flees without a shout.

I turn the tap

Cold water spouts

To gladden throats

And drive off thirsts.

I need no lamp,

 Where genies dwell;

My commonplace

 Outdoes his miracle!
