It was late at night, Cheryl had jolted up sweating as tears stained her cheeks after a terrifying nightmare of her deceased twin brother.

Reaching the phone that rested on her nightstand shakily, dealing Veronica's number to send her a text.

Toni's P.O.V

Hearing my phone buzzing in my desk as I was still studying for tomorrow's exam, I reached it and brought it to my face, seeing a number I couldn't identify.

+1 34 4257 0953: Sorry for being this straight but, can you come over right now? Or at least find a way to calm me. I had the worst nightmare.

Me: Hum.. I apologise for your nightmare and for asking this but.. who are you?

+1 34 4257 0953: Wait.. you're not Veronica?!

Me: I'm not who? No I'm Toni. Now who are you tho?

+1 34 4257 0953: Huh, I'm Cheryl?

Me: Nice to meet you, I guess? I like your name tho.

Cheryl: Toni right? Well I'm sorry if I woke you up or disturbed anything. I don't even know how I ended up texting you.

Me: No problem, it was nice to meet someone new. I was just studying for an exam tomorrow, no biggie it was about time I got to sleep.

Cheryl: Oh huh good luck with your exam tomorrow. And sorry I interrupted your study session. Goodnight.

Me: It's fine. Goodnight.

"Okay, that was weird." I talked out into the air. I sighed, standing up and lazily dragging my ass to bed so I could get some sleep.

*Meanwhile With Cheryl*
Cheryl's P.O.V

"Oh my God! I'm so stupid. I texted a random person asking them to come over thinking I was texting V! How comes I didn't notice!?

Shaking my head, I saved the contact on my phone, "Toni", smiling slightly I turned it off and fell back to sleep. It was confusing of how someone I knew nothing other than the name could send me such a peaceful vibe.

The next morning came by and I woke up to my alarm clock buzzing. It was 5 in the morning but I was unlikely in a good mood.

I snoozed the alarm on my phone and noticed I had received a notification of a new message.

Toni: Good morning. I'm sorry I'm texting you in the middle of the night but for some weird reason I couldn't stop thinking of you.

Me: Good morning. Total honesty.. same. 🙈

Toni: How are you?

As I was about to reply back to Toni my mom walked into my room, yelling at me.

“Cheryl! Get ready for school! Now! Leave that stupid phone aside!” yelled Penelope.

“Okay, okay!” I rolled my eyes, that for my mistake only got her madder. Next thing I knew her hand flew right into my face and my eyes filled with tears.

“Do never talk to me that way! I am not your classmates!” and without saying another word or allowing me to apologise, my mom was out of sight.

Me: Awfully bad... 😭

I don't know how I was able to simply be honest with the unknown person on the other side of the messages. Somehow she made me feel.. safe.

Toni: Noooo! What's wrong? Is it still yesterday's nightmare?

Me: More like a real life nightmare...

Toni: Do you want to talk? I know you barely know me but I'm here if you need anyone to talk to.

Toni: Also, there's not much I can do either. We barely know each other.

Me: My mom slapped.. my whole cheek feels like it's on fire..

What do you think was Toni's reaction?
