~~~
I wake up to the ear-piercing scream of my alarm going off. I groaned as I slammed my hand onto the clock lying on the mini stand I had next to my bed. Silence. I inhale sharply before letting my eyes flutter open slowly. I lay in bed for a minute before turning to the stand and grabbing my phone off the charging cable. I scroll through notifications, check the time, ext, ext.
I sit up and toss the blankets off of me, swinging my legs off of the rim of the bed lazily. I must have gotten up to fast because I felt super lightheaded. I shrugged it off and headed down to the kitchen to find Floof. I chuckle, watching the little dog chase its tail. I kneel down to pat Floof when I hear my phone buzz. The dog growled and let off a small, "Arf!"
I pull out my phone, patting Floof on the head gently. I get up, checking the notification. I felt my cheeks heat up. My stomach tie into knots. I shake my head, hoping the feeling would go away.
"Hey, James! Sorry to annoy you, but I was just worried about you. You've usually texted me by now." I felt my cheeks heating up again. I stare down at my phone for what felt like hours before finally replying, "Oh. Sorry. I woke up late. Hehe." I pressed the send button. Immediately the text had been read.
I chuckled softly, then Adam replied: "Oh okay, just checking in." I couldn't help but chuckle once more. "Alright. So what's up? Got any plans? Wanna come over?" I hit send again. I felt a wave of regret hit me. "Three questions in one text!? What the hell! He probably thinks I'm a sta-" my phone buzzed.
"Sure thing. I'll be there in five. Also, I have some...news." I tilted my head, confused. "News?" I replied. He didn't reply. He didn't even read it.
I look over our recent texts. My eyes stop on 'see you in five.' I glance over at the clock. It's already been two minutes wasted! I run-up to my room, change into some decent clothes, comb my hair, brush my teeth, all in a matter of three minutes. I finish up brushing my teeth when...
Knock knock knock.
I jump up before rushing over to the front door. Another knock. "Who's there?" I called. "Dorris," Adam replied, chuckling. "Dorris? Dorris who?" I giggled, placing a hand on the doorknob. "Dorris locked. And I kinda...wanna see your face." Adam lowered his voice on that last part.
I felt a smile spread across my face without permission. I giggle and unlock the door. I look down at the smaller man standing in front of me who went by the name "Adam", or, " Aj". At least that's what his parents called him.
"Hey, Aj." He looked up at me and rolled his eyes, letting himself in. "Don't call me that." He turned to look at me, his cheeks a soft pink. "Fine. What's the news?" I asked. He shifted uncomfortably, pulling his hands out of his pockets and fiddling with them nervously.
A note fell out of his pocket. I quickly knelt down, reaching for it. He gently shoved away, grabbing the letter. "Ooh! Adam! Is that a love letter!?" I cooed, chuckling. He stuffed the piece of paper back into his pocket, his cheeks now flushed. "No..! Maybe..!" I gasped dramatically. "From whom!? Or should I say...For whom?" I giggled. He grumbled.
"What was that?" I giggled. "Ja-..." Was all that managed to escape his lips? I felt my heart rise then sink. "Jaiden?" I asked hesitantly. He shook his head. I sighed, relieved. "Jane?" He shook his head again. "Haven't talked to her in forever."
I continued listing names that started with 'Ja' but kept failing. "Give me a hint!" I sighed. "Okay..well. It's not a girl." Not a girl? Did..did I hear that right? I shifted a bit, feeling a bit flustered. "Jay? Jake? Carlos!?" He shook his head at all three.
"James, Carlos doesn't even start a J." He giggled. "I know! But you might have been trying to trick me!" After what seemed like an hour, I caved in. "I give up!" I sighed in defeat. "Tell you what, if you manage to get through a horror movie without screaming, hiding your face, ext. I'll tell you who it is." He smirked. "Mm...fine!" I knew I was going to regret this.
Adam made some popcorn while I tried to get over the anxiety a watching a horror movie with Adam right next to me. I searched through the channels and stuff, eventually stopping on "IT". I've seen it before, and it wasn't THAT scary.
Adam came in with the popcorn, humming. He placed the bowl in between us before huffing. " Jameson, seriously? You've already seen this. And it's not even scary!" He plopped down next to me. I shrugged and started the movie.
Of course, I did end up screaming AND covering my face. But I guess it was a win-win since Adam held my hand for support. He's so kind, and thoughtful..."And handsome." I quickly covered my mouth. I felt Adam glance at me. "Did you say something?" He questioned, tilting his head.
My face flushed. I felt butterflies in my stomach, even worse from the ones this morning. I chuckled nervously. "Nope! Nothing at all! Hehe." I shifted to sit up fully, then fiddled with my thumbs awkwardly.
"Ya know, Jameson. You can tell me anything. I'm always here for you." He started at me, giving me his lopsided smile. I smiled back, nodding. Adam's face turned to shock, his face now flushing red. He quickly got up. "A-ah- Hah! Funny story...I...I need to use the bathroom!"
While Adam was in the bathroom, I processed what had just happened. Why did he run away like that? Maybe he did have to use the bathroom. But he looked so nervous! "Urrrgh!" I placed my head in my hands and groaned. I needed to confess. I couldn't hold back anymore.
After like 30 minutes or so, Adam finally came back. I looked at him and he smiled nervously. "You okay?" He nodded. I got up. "Adam...I-" He quickly interrupted me. "James wait...here."
He shakily pulled the note out of his pocket, handing it to me. I shyly took it and stared at him. "Adam?-" before I could speak, he blurted out, "Just read it you doof!" He crossed his arms.
The note read...
"You make me laugh when I want to cry,
Make me live when I want to die,
Make me smile when I want to frown,
You turned my whole life upside down.
Believe in me when no one else does,
You're my now, my am, my was.
When you call my name, I begin to blush,
I'm afraid people notice I need you so much.
When I'm with you, time flies by so fast,
It's like the present is the past.
I need you more than you can believe,
Love you more than you can conceive.
I think about you every night and day,
And hope my life can stay this way.
I don't want it to be any other way."
(Don't @ me I found this on Pinterest-)
I teared up as I looked at Adam. He was blushing madly with his hands in his pockets. "I-it's whatever. It's fine if you don't feel the same, I-I don't care." He crossed his arms again.
I wiped my eyes and grabbed him by the neck of his hoodie, pulling him closer to my face. I bent down a bit, almost eye-level with Adam. I giggled. He just stared.
I slowly pull him. Apparently, I was going too slow, cause he pulled me in quickly. I stand in shock. There I was. Kissing the man I had admired for years now.
I guess you could say this was SOMETHING pretty ODD.
(I'M SORRY DON'T KILL ME I NEEDED TO ADD A PUN EVERYONE IS DOING IT WHAAA-)
