The sound of the door winging open played like an explosion in my ears as it felt like I was about to go to war. The devil's intern appearing to fill the void of the door frame and his threatening stance showed that he was in control. His breath heaved and the air that pressured through his nostrils almost resembled grey smoke from how much he was burning up with anger. His demon eyes glowing with a ruby fury as they had death written all over them. With his monstrous hands he pushed her out of the way.

"Claudia!" I wailed.

I could feel the anxiety in my sweaty palms and shaking bones. I wanted to so desperately save the beautiful angel - Claudia - from the devil's torture. However, there was no hope as he set his motives towards me. This is it. This will be the end of me. He wrapped his demon claws around my neck and I could feel my lungs shortening as he was destroying my circulation the way he intended to.

Suddenly, his demon grip seemed to soften.

My vision was no longer clear as it began to muffle.

It now feels as though his hand have transformed to bugs crawling on my neck. I cannot quite make out what that tingling sensation is. I am slowly coming into consciousness from my nightmare and now feel a wet residue on the side of my neck trailing down. I begin to slowly merge into full awareness as I come to realize that in fact; there are definitely no creepy crawlers between my head and body.

It is most probably just Joanna's annoying ass placing wet kisses on my neck as I was happily in my sleep. Honestly, for once I am glad she did something stupid like this so I could wake up from those horrid images. But, Joanna is a menace so I'll pretend I was happy!

She is the only human being who will walk into my house and refuse to remain rested if she sees me at 'peace'. I can consider it peace if she has no idea what was going on in my head, right?

With my eyes continuing to be shut, I groan and place the palm of my hand flat onto her forehead to push her irritating big head away from me.

"Fuck off, man." I rebuke. I allow my eyes to flutter open slowly with my vision slightly blurry from the light intake after being in a deep sleep.

"You love it." She giggled.

I really fucking don't.

My visual perception is now fully clear and the flower pattern of the couch is what I decide to stare at, as I did not want to see her face right now. I am debating whether or not I should take naps in my room from now on to avoid contact with Joanna.  But man, this couch. This couch right here, is mother-effing magical. It is just so cushion-y.

Interrupting my couch appreciation thoughts: I hear the door swing open, making a low squeaky noise followed by footsteps that trailed from the house entrance towards the kitchen: the living room and kitchen area are open plan. I finally chose to turn my body around by laying on my back and facing my house mate who is placing two bags that are over-filling with items onto the kitchen counter.

"Are you annoying her again, Jo?" My house mate; Kayla, said casually after looking between us, as if it is nothing new. Well, it isn't, unfortunately. Joanna Hunter loves to get on my nerves for some weird reason. Brings her pleasure or some shit . The sadistic bitch.

"No, we were just having a little fun." The demon dog laughed. How about I show her how much I think letting my fist meet her cheek is fun.

"One sided fun, I presume." Kayla replied, keeping her tone the same throughout the sentence to indicate that it was a statement, rather than a question.

You bet ya ass it's one sided fun. The crazy thing is that Joanna never even does any of this shit in front of Kayla.

Joanna just snickered at Kayla's remark and the conversation ended there. While Kayla is starting to put away the items from the bags into the cabinets and fridge, she nodded towards me and asked "You going out tonight?"

"What do you think?" I chuckled, but my voice coming out more annoyed than I actually was.

"Okay, then. Where are you going tonight?" Kayla answered me, still sounding casual. She did not seem to take in the annoyed tone I gave as she was mostly focused on packing away the stuff she bought. Joanna walked over to the kitchen counter, leaning over it and placing her forearms onto the top of the counter, with her fingers on both hands intertwined.

I placed the palm side of my hand on the back of my head, interlacing my finger tips to seep into my hair, in order to raise my head higher to see Kayla better. "To a club." I said smiling at my smart-ass answer because she was technically trying to ask me 'which club?'

I could imagine Kayla is rolling her eyes right now. I could not see her face considering she was still moving around with her back mostly turned to me. "Your friends aren't going with you tonight, are they?" she asked with a little bit of concern in her voice.

"No, Kayla. They're not." I said letting a breath out. "I will catch a cab, there and back. Don't worry." I said trying to reassure her, knowing that the concern in her voice was probably from her imaging that I was going to get drunk.

And, boy, was she right.

Kayla sighed. She did not want me to do that. She often used to offer to pick my drunk ass up, but, she was growing tired of my unpleasant habits. That, and she has a work-overload job so she enjoys sleeping peacefully throughout the night.

"Or..." Joanna interjected, holding the 'R'  for a second. God, no. Stop speaking, please. She turned to look at me before continuing "I can go with you." I rolled my eyes. She for real? She think she a comedian or something?

"Fuck. No." Emphasizing on each word as I said them slowly.

"Come on. It is better than a drunk girl getting in the back of a cab in the middle of the night." Joanna informed as if she was reporting the news. As she finished her sentence, she turned to Kayla to look to her for support in her argument.

"She's right." Kayla stated, giving an agreeing tone and looking at me hopefully.

"But, then I can't bring home a lovely man!" I exclaimed while pouting my lips and trying to give Kayla my biggest puppy dog face. "He can make sure I get home safe." I commented, smiling sweetly at Kayla.

Kayla sighed, placing one of her hands flat onto the kitchen counter to lean on it. "You already did that this week." Her tone deemed disapproving of my fun ways. "Besides, you'll be bringing a beautiful woman home instead." She said side nodding towards Joanna while keeping eye contact with me.

I sat up immediately and placed my index finger into my mouth, to imitate regurgitating. I had no problem annoying Joanna back. I did not need to look at her for confirmation because I know that action probably made her feel rejected.

Kayla gave me a warning glare - she hated the tension between Joanna and I. "I don't sleep properly if I'm not one hundred percent sure you're going to make it home safe. I have a big day tomorrow at work." She pleaded at me.

I deeply sighed. I hate that I will do almost anything she asks of me. I hope she knows: I am only about to say this for her. "Fine. Whatever." I said trying to sound casual, but failing as my pitch was deep and I could feel my face frowning.

Kayla gave me a thankful smile. Joanna was trying to hide her grin by looking at the floor and inverting her lips inside her mouth as the corners tugged up slightly.

I let myself free fall backwards to lay onto the couch again while letting out a loud breath. I drank to forget what happened that night three quarters of a year ago. But sure, why not. It'll be great. Let's go to a party with the person I despise most. Maybe I will end up forgetting she is there too.
