Chapter 2: Ruby red

The sisters had managed to outrun the twolegs, and now they found themselves deep into the forest with no obvious route back to the twoleg place.

"Great job! Now look! We're lost!" Chloe accused her sister, getting more and more irritated every second she had to spend with this infuriating cat.

"Hey!" Crystal turned and snarled, "don't go blaming me! Its all your fault anyway!"

"How is any of this my fault?"

"Don't play innocent! You were the one who told me to fetch fresh prey in the first place!"

"I wasn't being serious when I told you to do that!" Chloe countered.

"Sure you weren't, goodie goodie," Crystal pouted and stalked ahead.

Chloe growled at her sister mentally. Why did she have to be so tiresome all of the time? Couldn't she be respectful or nice for once? She acted like she owned the while world- but in truth that was far from it.

After walking for a considerable amount of time, the two cats started to get tired and weary from their travelling.

"Chloe! I'm really starting to get tired!" Crystal whined.

"Okay. I guess we'll settle here for tonight. Plus, the sky is starting to darken- it could be dangerous to go on." Chloe concluded.

"Hey! Look at that pool over there! Oh, I wonder if I can catch the fish!" Crystal blurted.

"How about you go and do that while I catch some
Actual fresh kill," Chloe sighed as she stalked off into the dark woods.

Crystal wandered over to the pool of cerulean water. She could see by the light of the stars, and she found herself staring at her reflection. What an odd thing it is to see yourself, she thought.

Just then, the water shifted to form the reflection of a ruby red cat with sapphire eyes in place of hers, but just as quickly as it had appeared, it vanished...

The ruby red cat was like a blood stain in Crystal's mind for the rest of that night: she couldn't stop thinking about it. Why had her reflection changed? What did it mean? Who in the world was that cat?

These questions haunted her mind all night and the following day.
