Chapter Three – Cora

I was sitting on my stone, awaiting her arrival. She said she’d be here as soon as she could, and that was three days ago. It was about an hour past noon, and she still wasn’t here. I was starting to get a little impatient.

I sighed. I’ve been doing that a lot for the past six years. I just didn’t feel happy. Ever since Henry...

I hated that flashback. Why did my mind play it over and over again?

But now, instead of just depression, I felt anxious.

Anxiousness was a new emotion to me. I was a very “go with the flow” kind of girl when I was alive, and dead I didn’t have anything to be anxious about. So, this emotion was very strange, and I wanted it gone. I had to get rid of this feeling.

I’m going to leave the graveyard for the first time; in search of her. I felt drawn to her essence, so I think if I try hard enough I can find her.

I went over to Perrie’s rock; since that was the first place I saw her face and communicated with her. She had hurried back to the street on the left, the side with the big willow trees. She had gotten into her Chevy and drove off, towards the capital building.

I started speed walking towards the capital, and soon fell into a run. I couldn’t tire, so why not?

When I reached the elegant building, I stopped, assessing where I should go next. I was drawn towards the left, almost as if an imaginary rope was pulling me towards that side. The energy was so strong; I decided that it was right, so I turned left.

I ran past buildings, trees, bushes, pedestrians, and taking a few turns here and there, I got to a mansion. This structure was absolutely breathtaking; three stories high, red and gray stone near perfectly laid down, and gargoyles standing proud near the top.

      She’s in there.

I walked through the door, my subconscious mind changing my state so I could walk through it without falling backwards with the impact. The wonderful things about being a ghost.

Inside, there was a long hardwood hallway traveling down in the kitchen, and on the other side, there was a cream-colored carpeted living room. Around the corner, there was an elegant staircase. But, I barely paid attention to that, as she was standing right in front of me. The woman was absolutely breathtaking, with green eyes, wavy blonde hair and soft pink lips.

“Hello,” she said simply, her bright eyes peering at me, as if she was trying to figure me out.

“Hi,” I replied back. We fell into a silence, an awkward silence.

“What are you doing here?” she asked, her eyes falling to her feet, and she started biting her lip. I just wanted to grab her and kiss her. But I was straight...right?

“Uh...I had to come see you,” I replied. God, that sounded cliché.

“Who are you talking to, Merena?” a woman’s voice asked, and the person with that voice appeared, walking down the hallway. She had long, straight black hair, hazel eyes and bright red lips. The older woman must’ve been physic because she gasped, “Why is there a spirit in our house? And why are you talking to her?”

Sorry it’s a bit short, I could’ve lengthened it, but I kind of wanted to have a cliffhanger!

So, five comments and the fourth chapter will be posted!
