The cold crept up my skin as stumble out of the bar. Sad, drunk, getting over a break up. " that horrible man! Thinks he can take my baby from me!" I slurred as I stomp into the woods. Mumbling unintelligible nonsense I tripped over a rock, that caused me to fall, onto my face.

The cold was burning my skin. My eyes threatening tears as I curl up into a ball, holding my knees to my chest I begin to weep. Echoing, I heard someone familiar. " mama" I hear a voice, wailing in the distance. " please come back!"

It's my child! She's all alone! " Sweetie stay where you are! Mommy will be right there!" I say as I rush into the direction of her voice. " I'm scared! I'm so scared!" She says as her voice faltered. " Everythings alright, mommy will find you." Close! her voice is so close!

The cold ripping at my flesh as I ran through the woods. I came to a stop. The wind blowing the snow in my face, but I can distinctly make out where she is. There she is! My sweet baby girl. " Sweetie come to me! Mommy's here!"

I said to her, but she didn't answer. She started backing up. I didn't see anything behind her. She could fall, she's going to fall! In a dazed state I lunged for her, tumbling off the steep, into the water...

The beginning of winter. Dad wants to take mom, and I hiking. I gaze out the window in, astonishment. The snow laying on the floor, like pure white clouds on the ground. This is the first time I've ever seen snow! We live in Florida, in the sunshine state so we never see any snow.

But today we're going to our hometown in Minnesota! " dad! How long is the drive?" I asked out of curiosity. " talk to your mother hon I need to focus " dad dismissed me. I don't want to talk to Wanda. She maybe the girl dad married, but she's not my mom.

I crossed my arms to appear uninterested, but when the snow floated to the earth, I was awestruck... We're finally at the hiking trail. I saw little animals seeking shelter from the winter. So cute. Dad was setting up our campsite, told me to stay close to Wanda.

But as usual, Wanda forgot my existence so I strayed farther than I'd hoped. Gazing and sight seeing I took myself deep into the woods. A sense of dread came over me. So sad, really sad. I walked further down the trail to see a lake. A woman swimming in the lake caught my attention.

" hey! It's freezing! You should get out of there". I said only to receive no response. I took off my scarf and threw it into the water. " you-" she was gone. I looked around. She grabbed my arm, forcefully trying to pull me in the water!

I screamed, but nothing worked. I couldn't escape. Mama I'm scared!
